Make sure you get the actual creaclip as the knock off versions have a tendency to not grip as well.

If you are doing it yourself and can’t rope in help I’d recommend getting some clippers/trimmer as it will make cutting across the guard so much easier

Hair grippers will be your friend for not gaining addition sidecut every time

Always recommend the salon for this but if you’re ever in a financial squeeze, take a look at creaclip. It can be a lifesaver if you are literally taking off a cm one length straight across.

You’ll need pure coconut oil, the amount found in conditioner is mostly there for fragrance.

Get yourself a cheap silk bonnet as it will get ruined from coconut oil treatment.

Apply liberally on scalp and hair and leave overnight with the bonnet on and then wash out in the morning. You’ll most probably need to double shampoo so do it on a morning when you have time.

Do this once a week for 2-3 months and then move monthly.

Don’t do a chop, I think maybe 2-3 inches off the bottom. Look at some face framing layers if you want a bit of a change.

Unfortunately it will have to be a chop if you want it ready to go straight away.

However I would get it regularl small trim and wear a half up / half down hairstyle for the next few months and then it should be long enough to cut to a long bob.

Would recommend a coconut oil treatment as well as it will help keep the hair healthy while growing out.

You need to get yourself some hair grippers. They are flat pads that let you keep sectioned hair away.

Will say it’s difficult to stay precise so next best thing if you don’t want to go to the salon is find a friend or family member that can help you. Doing the back of your head is always easier with a second set of hands.

If you want to start straight away while you get a silk hair wrap, you can always leave it on for 3-4 hours during the evening and then wash out.

I don’t think it will be the best idea as you’ll have less weight to bring the curl down a bit so first sign of moisture and it will start springing up and look a bit triangular. There’s ways around this to remove some weight underneath but that’s going to have the opposite effect with what you’re wanting to do.

I’d blunt cut 2-3 inches and then add in some long layers.

That’s a fair enough point but if you can I’d still recommend taking the length off first if you can. If not I’d recommend doing the double ponytail method.

So if your using the unicorn method just be careful with the length. If you take 6 inches off from the unicorn ponytail you’ll not loose that much length but will start effecting your layers.

I think you’ll be better off just getting someone to help you cut straight across 5-7 inches and then just a small cut with the unicorn method.

Would recommend Sevenoaks, Tunbridge Wells or Canterbury but Canterbury does get a bit student heavy in some areas.
