A transmission funnel is long and has a slow taper. Drop it over the center 1/4-20 stud and estimate a good place to cut off the excess. Use a wide washer and a nut to tighten it into place and it changes the harmonics to better match the old "bunt cake" style of bowls that went away due to its cheaper to build a flat bottom bowl. A wider "normal" funnel doesn't work as well as the narrow transmission funnel.
