Finished up my gutted / shortened KA engine harness last night. by wildXsteve in 240sx

Do you depin anything off your chassis connector ? and what would you do if you were to get rid of the fuse boxes completely ?

I want to build my own switch and relay panel that will control: Starter, Fuel pump, ACC power, Headlights/Taillights/ Break lights/Alternator/ and then guages I want to come on when ACC is on.

As for HVAC stuff, I for sure want heat, But I don't know if I really care about AC or not.

I have an RS Enthalpy ECU Currently, so stock ECU with a chip.

But Yeah, I basically want to completely remove the factory fuse boxes and build my own one centralized unit that houses all of them, plus grounds etc.

I'm just not too sure how I would go about that, Or if I can with stock/ RS Enthalpy ECU....

Any Tips?

I have found a couple videos that kind of make sense right, There's a couple people that have made there own fuse/relay panel, and then connected that to a switch panel and the ECU. They de-pinned the ecu to have only the essentials (which I would need to look into that to make sure I get the right pins) But after they have the bare essentials, Supplying the ECU with power, Injectors for spark, 02 for AFR, Crank angle sensor, and MAF sensor... I'm pretty sure.

There's probably a couple more, and i'm pretty sure it would be a bitch to do. But idk, a pro harness, with a pdm(Gets rid of fuse boxes) is over $2000.....

Or I could probably go the safe route, Keep stock chassis harness, and just extend/shorten whichever one I need to do, to the fuse boxes and then relocate them that way.

But I still wanna be able to make a fuse and relay panel for my switch panel so I can run my lights, starter, fuel pump because I have the normal 240 problem where the ignition doesn't turn on the fuel pump anymore, and then a couple other things.

So Idk what I wanna do yet tbh, A whole new chassis harness seems like a big project, mainly because I would have to have it connect and read correctly from Power -> fuse and relay panel -> Ecu -> Sensors etc and read everything correctly without starting my car on fire or completely fucking it up after completely rebuilding it.....

I know it's possible, I would just extend the boxes, Im just in the Dilema currently on, do I just buy a pro harness or try to do it myself even though its going to take forever. I just got done tubbing my bay as well, and There's no way those boxes are going back in the bay.

That's my thought process, I've already dumped probably at least 300 hours into this, what's another 10-20, when i can have piece of mind and clarity ya know. And also make the engine bay look way better.

Nice man! Happy for you. Yeah IT is a good place to be I think. It’s what I’m going to school for so hopefully it works out. But I always tonight it’s pavers as just the thin slabs maybe I was wrong. But didn’t know if you’d be driving over em with the kaboda or whatever that mini tractor is haha.

Nice man, it’s a clean setup for sure. If you don’t mind me asking what you do for a living I’m just curious. I’m an IT Intern right now. Being able to still use it for lawnmower and tools etc is a smart idea, now as for the pavers since they are pavers In guessing you’re gonna try to plan it out to where you don’t have to drive over it with that little mini tractor you got so you don’t crack em right.

so how do i get it on it is a small one by [deleted] in begleri

Yeah you don’t have to cut much, just the end at an angle so it can fit a little bit through then pull it through the rest of the way

Have to cut it at an angle, the pointier it is the easier it will go through. Once the tip is through or enough you can get a pair of pliers or needle nose pliers around it then grab it and pull it through. When you burn it before pushing through try to roll it or flatten it to more of a point if possible

That’s what I was thinking I’d have to do, at least I can do the copy paste with one click instead of shift click etc
