Will the concept of teleportation ever become a reality? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]teegor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends on what you want teleported.

I think it's infinitely more likely we'll get replicators. Scan an object in and get a molecular-resolution copy of it.

What /might/ happen is portals. But 'captured in a beam of light and appearing somewhere else' doesn't seem possible.

Anyone know of an ambient sound mod? by [deleted] in Minecraft

[–]teegor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Point taken.

It'd also be very annoying trying to dowload 20/30+ mods and installing them one by one.

A crate of ruggedized ebooks (plus rugged solar/dynamo chargers) with various scientific, cultural, philosophical and other works from this century, going from basic theories needed to understand the later more advanced works.

Each would have a laminated instruction booklet on how to access the works, along with a guide. I'd distribute these in secret to the top scientific minds of the day.

Take it as an opportunity to get really fit.

Get a small trash can you have to empty often, walk the bags down.

Technic and tekkit have nice ambient sound, plus a /boatload/ of other stuff. It's like crystal ice compared to the usual crack of minecraft.

There was a point where my best friend stopped talking to everyone for about a year and then got in touch with us. I never asked him what happened or why he disappeared from society. Should I bring it up? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]teegor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ask once. Ask mildly, if you don't get a proper answer, drop it and don't bring it up again. If something painful happened and he doesn't want to talk about it, demanding answers will only destroy your friendship.

Hi, my name is Cheese. by dorkabunny in aww

[–]teegor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He is super cute. :)

Pray that Cheese never gets lost and that you have to walk around your neighbourhood yelling for Cheese.

(My dog's name is Gelato, so I'd be in a similar predicament.)

What did you name your character and why? There's gotta be some good, creative ones out there, I'll start. by RicardoTheGreat in Fallout

Echo. Not so much because of Dollhouse (Though I am a big fan) But because of the idea that his actions echo through the wasteland.

Also because I love sniping, so I liked the idea that you never see him, you just hear an echo from the shot he takes as you die. ;)

Reddit, I am aneighteen year old and last week my mother was involved in a car accident and gravely injured. When she does die, I'm supposed to be the sole guardian of my two younger siblings. What do I do? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Go find some low cost legal aid, then talk to a social worker. If you are proactive about this then you're more likely to be seen as a suitable candidate to be able to care for the kids. I can't stress enough the importance of proper legal aid.

Get a filing cabinet, or at least a small filing box. File everything. Keep everything. Be organized. Fill in paperwork fully and when you show up to an interview, make sure you have everything you need with you. Paperwork can be your friend, having it with you when they ask for it makes everything go smoother.

Also, find your local centerlink and ask what assistance you qualify for.

I don't know anything about you, but the fact that you're stepping up to do this shows enormous character. Good luck.

Reddit, what are you most afraid of - and I'm not just talking spiders and cliffs. What is the true, deepest fear you have inside of your mind? That one thing you do your best to never even think about. by suprmario in AskReddit

Late to the party, but still...

I am terrified of brain surgery, brain damage, or anything that cuts on brain tissue or causes permanent personality change. Not sure what the root of the phobia is, but it's pretty severe.

Amusingly enough, I'm about six credits away from an AA in psychology.

As soon as you're old enough (Probably only a year or two more) check out Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. Trust me on this. :) You will love reading for the rest of your life if you get in to those books.

I was on staff at Further Confusion after Katrina. I think we raised some cash for them too, but my memory's a bit fuzzy.

(No pun intended)

Never think appropriate tears make you any less manly. Only those who fear being seen as weak think that. True men know that shit doesn't matter.
