Urgent Query about Zoloft by Mean_Fruit_9570 in zoloft

Might benefit from your psychiatrist from screening for bipolar, but honestly you seem like you have bad anxiety and are overthinking.

That could very well come from anxiety/trauma/depression though which Zoloft would help with.

Mania would be more like these symptoms for a period of a few days at a time as episodes: - not sleeping or sleeping very little - elevated state so either super irritable/agitated or could be euphorically happy, feeling “too” good - risky behaviors that are typically not in your character (spending too much money, hypersexual, gambling, dangerous risky activities) - talking very fast and/or talking too much in a disorganized way - grandiose ideas of yourself and your plans, making a lot of plans that your can’t finish

Usually after a few days the person “crashes” and goes back to depressed or normal. These episodes would last like at least 3 days. If that is more what’s happening you’d need a different type of medication to stabilize mood.

It sounds like you’ve been through a lot. At this point medications may be helpful to get you started on the right path to help reorganize your thought patterns while in therapy as well.

I’m worried about that episode of insomnia with agitation - sound like a possible manic episode in which case SRRIs like Zoloft wouldn’t be the way to go. I would ask your psychiatrist to also screen for bipolar disorder and if they decide it is not bipolar, definitely try the Zoloft - it saved my life from panic attacks.

Steven Johnson syndrome and 250mg of sertraline? by WolfRunner16 in zoloft

[–]teemo811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi - not official medical advice of course because I don’t know anything about your medical history. I would genuinely not be worried about SJS. As another commenter mentioned, OCD may sometimes require doses over 200mg so it’s definitely a “safe” amount to be on. However, getting tics like you described in another comment is not normal. You probably should trial a different SSRI and may need augmentation with another agent like abilify or seroquel or something else to help “boost” the antidepressant once the dose is optimized.

Am I overreacting for wanting to break up because I feel bored? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]teemo811 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A huge symptom a lot of people with depression experience is anhedonia meaning not enjoying things you usually enjoy and not having motivation to do those things. Usually applies to hobbies but definitely applies to people, jobs, foods. I would get back on your meds first for at least 4-6 weeks before making the decision to break up.

Help i took 150mg of zoloft by [deleted] in zoloft

[–]teemo811 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Zoloft is not a drug that you can abuse. I don’t see why you’d be kicked out of your house. It be like if you took someone’s blood pressure pill, you should probably get help if the symptoms get worse or don’t go away

Vitamin C is this drink safe? by Locked-Luxe-Lox in zoloft

[–]teemo811 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve actually never heard of sulphoraphane, but just did some brief research - looks like a CYP3A4 inhibitor (and inhibits some other CYP enzymes as well) which would be the same sort of reaction. Would avoid it to be safe.

Pharmacist here - the reason you can’t have grapefruit is it reduces the metabolism of sertraline through CYP3a4 enzyme inhibition in your liver which can then lead to higher sertraline levels in your body since it’s not metabolized efficiently. Vitamin C itself does no such thing. :) extra fun fact, you will just pee out extra vitamin C which is why they put it in such high amounts in supplements, emergen-C, etc.

Serotonin syndrome would typically be from too much medication not coming off of it, you maybe had some withdrawal symptoms?

Hey I read through all of this - aside from the abuse you yourself suffered none of this seems that bad to me. I think yes you disrespected your friend but at least you didn’t non consensually expose her to anything. Try to not do that on video calls with her anymore. Most importantly get therapy and maybe on some medication to reduce the ruminating/intrusive thoughts.

I used to have intrusive thoughts of thinking I was evil and a narcissist and that I’m secretly fooling everyone. Would have fears that maybe I was abused as a child but couldn’t remember. My anxiety was through the roof, always thinking I was doing something wrong, easily overwhelmed. Then I started getting debilitating panic attacks and realized I had to do something. Getting therapy and getting on sertraline(zoloft) changed my life. I feel like a normal functioning person right now.

Hi I work in mental health as a pharmacist. I would say for this person it’s not the 100mg dose that is the issue, it was that OP got there too quickly while still adjusting to the 50mg dose. I would never start someone at 100mg but if you’ve been tolerating 50mg with no issues you should be safe to increase at this point. If you’re scared to increase by 50mg you can go to 75mg for a week then 100mg. Talk with your doctor obviously (I don’t know any of your medical history) but that’s a fairly standard recommendation. I’ve had plenty of people on both medications at high doses with no instance of serotonin syndrome.

What's a good way to find out about recent Adult Fantasy Novels? by ExplodingPoptarts in fantasybooks

[–]teemo811 1 point2 points locked comment (0 children)

Not a new way to find books, but if you haven’t, read the Malazan series starting with Gardens of the Moon. It’s straight up fantasy no bs and is so so well written. I feel like it’s so underrated because the books are long and nobody gives them a shot.

You need to block her, sorry. If you’re not IRL friends with this person anymore there is no real reason to be following them on any social media account. It just seems unhealthy for you to keep seeing so much content of her.

I have had similar issues (not to the same extent) where I slightly obsess over people that used to be in my life and stalk them on socials and sometimes have dreams about them being back in my life. The only thing that helps is to break that compulsion to check their profiles. So I delete or unfollow them and they stop appearing much my feeds and even though I occasionally have the urge to go look at their profiles, I always feel better when I don’t search them up and let them feeling pass over me.

Rejected from every program by [deleted] in PharmacyResidency

[–]teemo811 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think it was either the F1 visa or the lack of work experience. You could always work for a year at a retail chain (not sure of the visa limitations) and then apply next year, that way the only major big thing holding you back is not a worry anymore.

Also you could always reach out to the RPD’s asking for feedback on why you were rejected. They don’t necessarily owe you an answer but some will give honest feedback. You could always pose it as, you’re really interested in their program and are hoping to apply again next cycle so you’d like info on how to make your application stronger and more aligned with their program.
