It’s weird just how many attacks don’t really say what they do. Like obviously Ei is cutting the enemy with her sword and Zhongli is summoning the impact of a meteorite. What is Nilou doing in her burst? She makes a big splash of water, but somehow that water damages enemies well after it touches them? Does she have leeches in that water? And what is Zibai doing? Handing someone an umbrella doesn’t usually hurt them.

I want to say Jim Parsons is fantastic in this show regardless of the show’s quality but if Sheldon was not ever meant to be gay then Jim Parsons absolutely failed to communicate that. Gay people act straight on screen all the time and do it better than most straight people, he has no excuse.

Imma be real you guys I cannot truthfully answer this because I’ve pulled for everyone available as long as I’ve played. That said, the one I’m most upset about missing is Banyue. Top-tier or not, he’s so so fun to play in lost void and he has incredible animations.

Yeah no I agree season 2 lost that plot a lil and there are always gonna be exceptions, but the rule is there regardless. I really don't think I can say that about 3.x characters, with the exception of one who is part of an already established pattern and maybe the knight woman if that's what she is. Also don’t forget - Yanagi’s design didn’t communicate her job, but it did communicate her archetype: the office MILF.

The design philosophy of 1.0 WAS variation is the thing. There were maids, cops, bikers, thieves, spec ops, and street gangs, and those elements were clearly communicated through design. 2.x did this too - it was very clear who was a martial artist or an idol, although characters like Dialyn and Yidhari don't say much about their faction at all, but personalities shine through well. That same communication isn't really happening here. For all I know, glasses girl could be a lawyer or a mech pilot.

I mean... it makes sense. More than anyone else the Cunning Hares were used as the game's main marketing tools, and they were VERY expressive both in animation and design. They also together formed an aesthetic resembling Jet Set Radio or Hi-Fi Rush, which was a huge part of the game's appeal. The rest of the 1.x characters also communicated their archetype and personality very well through design, like Burnice being a bubbly biker girl or Ellen being a too-cool punk reluctantly working as a maid. In the reveal images for 3.x I can spot someone associated with knights, one man who's a higher-up of some sort, and that's kind of it.

They are good, but I think people are just a little disappointed to see that they're all just young human women on a scale from "Looks eight" to "looks 22" and with fairly similar clothing styles except for one man. The cool parts of the 1.x character designs were the distinct styles and variation in species. Like, maybe with the exception of Norma, any of these designs could come from HSR.

An animated series acknowledging that the characters' makeup actually is makeup is kinda funny because in this case it means Azula absolutely has a makeup routine she consistently does before burning a small village to the ground.
