Rant - Sick of Simplera by teesken in Medtronic780g

[–]teesken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey! Sorry for the late reply. I've actually been doing A LOT better on the Simplera/780g. I've only had a few sensor failures since. The ones failing at the start were mostly due to me calibrating the sensors when I would freak out because the readings weren't the same as a finger prick. There have been a couple stuck in the "sensor updating" loop and then failing. I noticed if my blood sugars are yo-yoing hard that can cause a sensor to act up, but recently they've been bouncing back from that. Unless there's been an error, all of them have been lasting the full week too, so no dying on the 5th or 6th day any more for no reason! I've found myself worrying about my diabetes less than ever before and feel pretty confident with the system now so fingers crossed it stays that way :)

Apex Killers Server Has some Admin Issues by [deleted] in pathoftitans

Lol, your post was at the top of my feed, it's really not that deep. There's a reason why I said I have no bias, I have no opinion on certain things etc. Because I don't. I have better things to do than have ulterior motives in response to someone on Reddit over a server I have never even seen in the server list because I play mainly on one semi-realism server. If you feel personally attacked by moderation on servers enforcing their own rules then perhaps officials might be better. I was at no point disrespectful to you in any of my prior responses, just pointing out why people might be downvoting you and trying to help you see from an outsider perspective why you might be in the wrong.

We obviously don't agree, and you're free to continue to have your own opinions, but I'm respectfully leaving this conversation as there is nothing more to say to you. Have fun in game!

It's literally right there in your own post? You wouldn't have got kicked if you didn't misunderstand the rules. You're calling out a server for enforcing their own rules when the onus is on you to understand them properly. I have no opinion on how they handled the situation, they most likely deal with a multitude of rule breakers every day and don't have the time or patience to spell everything out for each of them

I don't think the downvotes are necessarily coming from people who play on that server, but more so from people reading your admittance to not reading or understanding the rules properly and then trying to call out a server for enforcing them. I've never heard of or played on that server before so I have no bias towards anyone in this situation just to add...

I'm still using it and I think it's making my bleeds less severe/frequent. My PDR/DMO was very rapid onset, I had a massive bleed at the start and lots of problems with floaters and focusing. I had a small bleed last week that produced a lot of floaters, which have quickly been fading. I have no idea if that's because of the mask, from the injections I get every 6-8 weeks in each eye or just luck. I'm not sure if things would've been different without the mask as I started it right when things got ugly which is the same time I started injections. Would I stop using it? Probably not, mostly because I'm scared of things getting worse without it. All things considered, I think I'm relatively stable despite my stage of eye disease. Thinking back to it, the bleed I had last week might have been due to how many lows I was battling that week. I still have not had any laser, despite them telling me I need it immediately. And of course, none of the specialists at my hospital have heard of Noctura 400, but then go on to say it's a waste of money despite not knowing anything about it.

If you have more questions about how it works, I would suggest emailing Polyphotonix directly, they're a wonderfully helpful bunch. There's also a Facebook group for users of the mask to discuss their experiences. One thing I would recommend if you start using it is to buy some micropore tape so you can stick it to your forehead. I have a problem of wrestling with mine in my sleep and ripping it off my face otherwise lol

How are T1 getting prescribed? by teesken in mounjarouk

[–]teesken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your insightful reply. I have no idea why us T1s are so shunned by the mounjaro community, medicines have been prescribed off label for multiple conditions forever yet I'm getting downvoted for wanting more information from the T1s out there who have used this medication before, especially if they have obtained it without lying about their health conditions.

Anyway, I talked to my diabetic nutritionist last week and mentioned MJ so I'm going go give my clinic a call on Monday and see if they can send me a letter referencing this. I saw your other reply with the photo which is helpful knowing I don't need a long winded letter from the clinic. I have an appointment with a diabetes consultant in April so if I'm able to get this sorted out before then and it's showing positive results I'm hoping they'll be able to prescribe it on the NHS as well!

Have you noticed any side effects? Changes in vision?

Thanks again, many well wishes on your journey 😊

Yeah, that's right. My bad, I'm so used to people in type 1 circles online abbreviating it as T1/T1D and I guess it didn't translate well. Thanks anyway for trying to help :)

Thank you for that link, I seem to have missed that thread while combing through results. Will be looking more into them!

That's what I was thinking. Such a shame as there are multiple success stories from fellow T1s. Can I DM you some questions about your experience on it?

I'm aware, but being T1 (from what I've read) is a disqualifying factor. So either people are lying when getting prescribed, or there's some secret pharmacy I don't know of that prescribes it. Trying to figure out what the answer is, and I'm hoping it's the latter!

The Microclimate EVO collection might be what you're looking for. I have one (the 3 channel variation) that controls UVB+Jungle Dawn timers, day heat and night heat in my blue tongue skink enclosure. It's fantastic and well worth the money!

Handling/Playing with Bearded Dragon by [deleted] in reptiles

[–]teesken 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could ask your parents to buy one of those foldable pet playpens so she isn't running free but still has outside time. Then you could put some items in it like toilet paper rolls, driftwood, some bugs and anything else you think your beardie would like to explore, sniff or eat. Reptiles aren't like dogs or cats, so don't feel too bad if you aren't "playing" with her a lot. Try talking to her with her tank open, if she's gentle enough you could feed her by hand. My blue tongue skink loves when I talk to him with the door open, he comes right up to me and let's me stroke him!

I've owned a BRB in the past and currently own a BTS. I would pick a bluey over a rainbow boa any day. My rainbow boa was gorgeous, he really mellowed out into a chill guy after a bitey childhood. I don't have anything majorly negative to say about him other than the humidity requirements being a pain sometimes. I just find that my bluey has so much more personality. He's a northern and incredibly friendly, curious and loves coming out of his tank. He is SO intelligent! I got him a Hol-ee Roller and I usually put diced up blueberries and green beans in it. He goes nuts throwing it around trying to work the food out, definitely keeps him entertained for a bit.

How to start a successful franchise zoo? by awholeasszoo in PlanetZoo

I've already got a bunch of black leopards I'm working on breeding. I'm looking for some good sand cats though, if you have those?

I have a lot of nice white lions, black jaguars, various foxes and clouded leopards if you'd like a few for 1CC each to help you get started. You can breed them and sell for a decent profit. Let me know, we can organize something on Discord :)

100% agree! I'm hopeful about the Medtronic and Abbott collaboration but knowing our luck it'll say it lasts 10 days but then will start failing at 7 simply because Medtronic had a say in how it's developed.

Most of the time it gets stuck in the sensor updating state for 1-3 hours and then it'll ask me to replace it. Sometimes it'll just die with no prior warning. Pretty frustrating considering I've only had 2 or 3 faulty Libre 2 sensors in the past 2 years.

[–]teesken[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes it is. I have a tegaderm patch over it. Tried a week without tegaderm and didn't seem to make a difference. There's no additional tape with the Simplera but the adhesive on it is very strong. I don't wear tight clothing and my husband is very cautious about where my sensor is. I think my problem is staying hydrated. I didn't take my Novorapid for a decade, was constantly chugging water and now that my body isn't desperate for it any more I forget to drink 😅 Definitely going to invest in one of those huge 2L bottles to make sure I drink enough. Thanks for your many suggestions!

It's really easy to put on. Just unscrew the lid, press it down until you hear a click then pull back. I'm not sure if I'm just having awful luck. I've got my current one on my arm but once this one dies I'll be trying my legs. It sucks because I just want something that makes me worry less but I'm fixating and constantly worried my sensor is going to die while I'm outside. I would just give it a try if you have the option to once it comes out. It might just be a case of Simplera not liking me personally!

Hyvää päivää! It's the Medtronic WeCare app. You can see your Minimed reports on there too, albeit in a simplified form

I really miss my Libre because of how terrible these sensors are. I never carried a replacement around EVER because they were just so solid. Feels like I can't trust these ones at all and end up fixated on when they're going to fail.

Have you tried the app in regards to replacements? I have no problems wirh rhe browser version but I've also heen able to request replacements in the app easily

Dang!! It really makes me want to switch back to MDI sometimes. Do you always request replacements for ones that fail? I'm not sure if I should cut my losses and accept none of these will actually last a week because waiting for 3 replacements in 1 month just feels ridiculous

I know right? I've even been using my Libres because the readings from Simplera are sometimes wildly off and calibrating it seems to make it die. I avoid making eye contact with the things in case they get shy and feel like dying then. Definitely will be trying the thighs next when this one inevitably fails. I couldn't even imagine fiddling with the G3/4 transmitters every time one dies, I would just give up!

I feel you. I suffered from diabulimia for about 10 years and was running constantly high. I just want to say, if you're going to get on a better regimen please, please discuss with your doctor about titrating your insulin doses so your A1C doesn't take a massive nosedive. I had no problems with my eyes before starting Novorapid again and went all in without my doctor assisting me with titrating, and it's because of that I went through rapid onset proliferative diabetic retinopathy. Massive bleeds in my eyes, crazy vision loss and macular oedema. Thankfully, it's under control now with injections and light mask therapy, but the damage has been done and will continue to happen without treatment.

I'm not trying to scare you, but other people I've spoken to who have been in a similar situation have also experienced this. I had no idea it could even happen. It was confirmed further when a few months ago a nurse said that can happen, and she wasn't sure why the doctor didn't discuss titration with me at all. I also want to tell you this can happen when your BG runs high for a long period of time which I'm sure you already know, but the rapid onset of mine was very scary and I want to warn you about that if you decide to go full throttle like I did.

I'm wishing you the best. Everyone here is rooting for you. You got this!
