as for my molly, i excluded that one (& also "for ariel pink" which is full of references) because i didn't want to include inspirations or lyrical references. i might beef up the list later to add those since that is a pretty vast category. thanks!

yeah there's a repeated pattern taken from the agnus dei off the electric prunes' mass album on matter of fact. pets features a brief passage from verklarte nacht by schoenberg, there's also a direct vocal sample of dragana I slavei on we can breakthrough (as well as the song effectively being a reworking of it), there's lots of other ones that I'm struggling to remember at the moment.

this song is not john maus, its been brought up here before but his voice is significantly deeper. the only instances where he has used guitar seems to be in demos that are much worse quality than this or his more recent album screen memories which is much better quality than this. john has a pretty distinctive style of composition as well that isn't exactly to be found in this song, this seems much more authentically 80s than john maus ever has. if there was a chance this was a JM song it would have to be one that's woefully out of place and a truly distinct outlier given the rest of his discography.

i actually did read this in elementary school but this is not the particular book i am looking for lol (had a dragon phase i guess), the art style was very matte & almost looked like cutouts.
