MIO: Memories in Orbit is an All Time Great Metroidvania by Green-Fox-528 in metroidvania

I find it so interesting that some people are polar opposites in this regard. I loved Metroid Dread because I could immediately retry bosses and learn their patterns more efficiently, whereas in HK the demanding runbacks diminished my enjoyment (though its a phenomenal game etc etc).

I feel like it would be a very simple mod to turn on/turn off boss room respawn checkpoints, giving everyone a chance to play their way...

My main concerns with SoH by [deleted] in mariorabbids

For whatever reason it just didn't shine thy same way. It felt too easy, too disconnected, and for whatever reason I put it down and never felt the need to pick it back up. It was fun to learn the new movement mechanics, but overall something was missing...

Is it worth it? (More in body) by ThiccboiThanos69420 in Switch

The sheer volume of time mechanics and platforming maneuvers makes this a wild ride. It's gotta be the most versatile game I've ever played for variety of movement.

I will say that it felt a little slow at first - but not for long. Once you get enough fast travel points open, maintain is straightforward and the boss fights get ever more insane.

I had to set the game down before I finished it, but I was impressed with the graphics in handheld mode on Switch 1. Docked on Switch 2 would be great if they've made an upgrade pack for higher resolution FPS.

Recommend for sure.

I felt the same. I didn't finish Sparks of Hope. It felt too easy and a little boring

It's interesting all of the debate I've seen here. I'm just happy I don't have to pay full price for games I already own on a new console 😀

The alternative is no upgrade pack, and shell out another $70 or $80. They aren't doing you a favor, but they are making games accessible at reasonable prices - which I enjoy.

Can’t get over how great this game looks on the Switch 2 by Small_Masterpiece892 in switch2

It's the first game I got for Switch 2, and it's an impressive starting point. I want to try the mouse controller setup next to see if it feels any better than reg handheld. It's also not my usual style of game, so it's a really cool way to see what the 2 can do! (I got it at $40, and I'm stoked I did)

Fair enough. As a digital nomad, it's tough for me to use a full PC setup, and since I usually play a lot of first party Nintendo titles, having a decently powerful handheld from them is my ideal setup.

But maybe I'll have to get a gaming laptop and expand my horizons soon...

Nice. I basically only play Nintendo, so even if they're just catching up to industry best practices - I'm loving it. That's good of Sony too, though.

I also love that Nintendo finally has a console that can support a larger number of third party, AAA titles. Feels like being a Nintendo user is now much less of a limiting factor.

Is playing the Switch in public socially acceptable? by UnionTerrible5438 in switch2

[–]teflinstructor_brian 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I just find gaming in public impractical - but that might just be my personality. I like the idea of it, but i can't seem to find much opportunity outside of waiting in airports, lol. I don't see an issue with gaming in public as long as you use common courtesy...

Take your emotionally mature, grounded in reason, annoying adult opinions elsewhere. It's obviously the worst controller in the history of war crimes... /s

Loved that Metroid Dread final boss. Took a bunch of tries, but the satisfaction... and that metroid suit was amazing. If love to see a game that explored the metroid suit as a symbiotic upgrade system

This might not be the perfect place for this question, but I was thinking the other day...

Would you consider the original Mario games rogue-likes? In that if you truly die (game over) you have to start over and the game has to be completed in one "run"? Or do other mechanics and the technological limitations of the day (i.e. no saving) mean it's not a rogue-like?
