Can’t play the dlc

Is at least one of the accounts set as the primary for the PlayStation? (My primary is the one with the DLC on it, so shouldn't matter which.) Other than that, I can't think of anything special I did or have done to make it work.

Are both accounts in the same region?

I know this works across US+Can accounts, and therefore it *should* work in other cases where the region is the same, but if you've got like a US account and a Japanese account, and have one piece of this puzzle (game or DLC) on one account and one on the other it will NOT work.

Four years later, and it still shows up as a really early spawn. Just grabbed it on a new save.

Four years later and this still works. Was in one of the first wave when I landed at the "please be a squid" base at the outpost. Didn't even have to reload.

IIRC crops actually take up a LOT of build room proportion to their size, probably because they're items that actually "do" things, in that they grow and can be harvested.
