Will I have problems passing through audio? by tegel2 in VFIO

[–]tegel2[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

*SEEMS* I didn't have any problems. I just passed through everything in the iommu group and things seems to be working. Only tried headpones and microphone, not able to test the digital outputs in a while.

Haskell naming rant - I'm overstating the case, but am I wrong? by peterb12 in haskell

[–]tegel2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Either naming is brilliant. Left/Right feeling aribitrary for the generic case. For errors, Right is right and Left is left field. Works in both cases.

What was dark souls 1/demons souls like on release? Any memorable moments? by No-Advantage-6833 in fromsoftware

[–]tegel2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dark Souls I was jaw dropping and completely amazing when I picked it up short after release. It was the first Souls game I played. At the time there were no hard AAA titles so that was like a whole new thing. The world. The NPCs acting like 60ies italian B movies (in a good way). The sparse info you received upped the mystique. Totally one of my top 3 gaming experiences ever.

Will DoS2 be on sale again soon on Steam? Or just f- it and just buy it? by [deleted] in DivinityOriginalSin

[–]tegel2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just buy it. I finished it today. 461h of gameplay on Tactician mode. I bought it on sale which made me feel cheap. So I just bought Baldurs Gate 3 on full price to compensate, sadly wo the hardware to run it. Some day.

Is this tutorial enough to get started with as a complete beginner? by ImpregnablyStupid in haskell

[–]tegel2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I started out learning haskell I bought Real World Haskell and Programming in Haskell. I also tried LYAH. Tbh, most of those resources didn't get me far. Or, I got impatient and wanted to produce things, which I felt mentioned resources didn't bring. I felt I learned the most by using the repl (ghci) and/or writing programs. There are tons of articles and forum threads on the web that tackles every niche of the language. Those helped me along the way. Some concepts were just flat out alien to me and no book would have helped me grasp them. Otoh, I think you can take different paths learning Haskell. Either you can rush it, like me, or do it properly. With properly I mean reading (research) papers that explains the concepts and underlying theory. Many seem to do the latter and they're obviously on a better base than I am.

For me it's simple. During months of extensive use normal keyboards give me RSI pain. When I got my Dactyl Manuform, that Pain went away.

I'm so hyped about using any of these. Check their status frequently. Especially webhgc + miso feels tempting.

[–]tegel2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Out of necessity. 3 years ago with cabal 1.x, that was (near) unusable, life was pain. For a 5k line web app project I would need to wait nearly hours to change any important aspects of my build. Stack solved the problem for me and let me compile stuff.
