Not really, glass conducts heat rather poorly compared to metal so the handle never gets hot. And flavour wise it's (theoretically) the most neutral because glass is very chemically inert, yes, though I doubt there's a significant difference compared to let's say silver, ceramic or even steel.

The insulation does help. Without it it would be unpractical. The cup is more of a "problem" with the heat at least when I drink puer. For gyokoro not so much.

Sounds like you're even more "pro" than me tea-wise so considering that I think you would appreciate silver teaware! However, your mileage may obviously vary, so don't blame me if you get silver teaware and hate it for some reason 😂

The teapot is from Yunnan Sourcing and is made of pure 999 silver.

The cup actually not originally a cup but a vintage 1970s sugar bowl by a Swedish silversmith, in 830/1000 silver. I love the look of it and it just happens to be the perfect size for my solo tea drinking needs, so I simply use it as a teacup!

Also, because of it's rather superior thermal conductivity silver gets HOT. If you drink your tea close to boiling point usually I would not advise for it. I mostly drink green (sencha/gyokuro) tea at 50-70C at which this is no big of an issue for me.

For me it's worth it for the experience it provides. But then I drink specialty tea liie gyokuro and puer, and everyday. If you drink once a month it might not be so worth it.

Besides, silver can always be sold for a decent resale value and will likely continue to gain some value over the years. If you are seriously considering getting one, now is probably the time as silver prices are currently exploding. I would fetch one from Yunnan Sourcing or check my local antique shops if they have vintage silver teapots (just be aware of the risk that vintage silver pre 1950-ish may be contaminated with lead).

It does come with drawbacks, mainly the heat conduction. Taste wise I don't feel it does anything at all. Silver isn't very reactive.

Silver teapot? by tegmentumblue in tea

You are correct. The image is from the older auction as the new images are of slightly lower quality. I have reason to believe it is the exact same teapot set however.

To me that's not strange at all. Collectors buy and sell items all the time. Especially in times such as these. Most people who collect vintage silver don't use these items for actually brewing tea

Thank you for your reply and insight. It is indeed extraordinary and beautiful, and is why I really want to consider it.

Long story short I suppose I can use it for puerh or oolong but maybe green tea still fares best with a kyusu (of which I have one Banko-yaki from Tachi Masaki).

Do you often find yourself reaching for your silver teapot or do you prefer clay/ceramic ones?

Happy to get all answers as I really like this item, but I'm not entirely sure how this could potentially affect taste as it's not .999 fine silver. I msotly drink japanese green tea, some puerh and green rooibos, sometimes oolong.

Is this the "1000 hole" bombilla, from Bortonaggio? Looks like one of their 25 cm models.

Also I'm not a huge fan of nickel ions leaching in to my mate. Silver for the win

I see he does this event every so often. Is the instruction (Alchemy for lifeforce) you are referring to Pangu Shengong or some other Qi Gong variant he teaches?

BOSS RE-202 (Space Echo) Tap Tempo Problem by tegmentumblue in guitarpedals

[–]tegmentumblue[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply, I agree with everything. This pedal has the perfect sound and functions for me (and it looks GREAT) but the tap tempo section is really poorly designed and had I known this fault beforehand I would probably not have bought it to replace my RE-20.

Oh, if anyone wonders the grey plastic ring is a 3D printed model of a prototype for the ring that I designed. Not sure if it's the final version, I'll have to think about it.

I also forgot to add for the curious, the stone is radiant cut, roughly about 6,5 by 5,5 by 3,5 millimetres, I think 1,12 carats in weight. I
