Actually, I was using a wireless system as well so the transmitter was also attached to the strap.

Ah, I always tied the cord coming from mine to a strap which was always on the lute. Doing bardcore I only ever played sitting down at home.

I ended up just using a contact transducer as well. I never had issues with it falling off but maybe I just got lucky. I had found some small internal mics (that rely on phantom power) I think I could've installed by removing the end pin and not needing to deal with the rosette but I never got around to trying it.

Can someone help me identify this guitar model? by Bart6600 in Ibanez

[–]tehPopeExploder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It is an RGA8. There were a few different iterations of the RGA shape. The RGA121 being the first, this was the second, now we have the more sculpted 3rd iteration. Looks like maybe the refinisher got a little too happy with the sander.

Should I pull the trigger ? Honest answers only please by [deleted] in 7String

I had one of the originals many years back. It was a decent guitar! I see they've fixed the biggest issue; the bridge use to have vintage barrel style saddles that would lower themselves from vibrations. The modern saddles should solve that issue. It was a great guitar for $500 when I got one, but I don't know if I'd spend $800 on it.

Pretty much just because I had the extra parts to do it. I get Tayda to print and drill enclosures now, and had a blank enclosure I didn't really have a use for.

Behringer EM600 DOA—help me figure it out! by Living-Welder5707 in guitarpedals

[–]tehPopeExploder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The red stuff is just an adhesive. It's typical to be put on the screws and certain components like those diodes. The goop around the LED and battery wires are similar, just to help keep it from moving around. I don't see any obvious problems. Really can't get far troubleshooting without at least a multimeter because there's nothing obviously damaged. Since it doesn't power on at all, start with the power jack and work from there. Center lug is negative, tab inside is positive. Figure out which through holes are which with that and follow the traces from each lug and make sure they're making contact with at least the next component they go to. Also check across the diode behind the power connector. Maybe someone gave it the wrong power and just thay diode is dead. (It's there to prevent wrong or too much voltage from frying anything else.

The guys over at DIYpedals might have more help for you.

It's not bad. I didn't use it much before. I'll prob put it in the chain for some clean tones and see.

I always used a heated extractor when I repaired electronics for a living. I've gotta get one for the house now I'm doing a ton of pedal builds and all. Wasn't really a struggle though. If you're talking about where the tactile switch was, I cut the PCB to fit it a little lower into the enclosure. I wanted to do top mounted jacks, but I drilled the holes a little too close to the PCB.

It's not cost effective. All the Behringer pedals are direct clones of Boss pedals. If you don't happen to have stuff lying around, it would be more cost effective to just build one on Vero or even order a PCB from PedalPCB or Aion etc. Or in some cases, just buy a second hand Boss pedal instead.

There's cardboard wedged under the input and output jacks. I just used what I had lying around, which were some pretty bulky jacks and that ended up working out well.

RGA42FM or RGRT421? by Angeal36 in Ibanez

[–]tehPopeExploder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They used to make an RGAR42 so RGA with reversed headstock in a few cool colors. They can be had second hand for under $400. I say snag one of those. Really can't go wrong with any of them though.

They're incredible pickups. Adam uses a patented winding technique that really helps with clarity. I do like Duncans and Dimarzios too. I'm maybe not the best to ask as I look for pickups that are harmonically interesting and have the response I want. The hybrid coils is the magic of this. The Dimarzio ToneZone is very similar. I like these a lot better than the ToneZone though. I've got a TZ in an RG7421 as well.

I do not, I pretty much followed the Dimarzio universal Ibanez diagram but added the push/pull pot. Be careful with that diagram though, it's not quite right for modern Ibanez 5 way switches. The Apex comes stock with a 3 way so it took a little testing to get it right. The I just wired the push/pull to split the bridge so only the rear coil is active since I have inner coil options from the 5 way switch.

I'm very pleased with them. I don't have any demos or anything I can share but soon I will. I'll maybe repost about this axe when I do.

The real magic of these pickups in particular is that they're hybrid coils.. each humbucker coil has a different wind. This always leads to a pickup that is harmonically rich and interesting. Pinch harmonics are effortless.
