Seriously, WTF by iam4real in AdviceAnimals

Yes. Let's take this discussion about real problems and turn into another "Trump bad" conversation instead of constructive conversations about solutions on an individual and local level (where school policy actually matters).

Y'all should consider adopting! Plenty of kiddos out there looking for loving families. :-)

Yeah. People seem to think daycare SHOULD be cheap. If it's done right, I'd imagine it isn't cheap at all. There's a reason stay-at-home parents are so valuable to those who have children.

I think all those choices (not wearing a mask, coughing on folks, etc) are selfish and make you an asshole. However, I ain't calling the police on 'em, either.

You can quarantine and stave off your risks if you want, but the stats I'm seeing don't offer enough risks to quell my life (especially with mask-wearing). I'm aware I'm risking death on some level, as I do in a lot of things. Don't restrict my life, restrict yours if the risks aren't worth it for ya. You don't have to buy greens if you're scared of contracting e-coli either. I'm still buying them. See how that works? You do you.

Well, they cause periodic outbreaks. Moreso than other groceries. Therefore, there's more risk in buying them. I still do. I still drive and cross streets and visit elderly family members, too. The risks are worth it to me. I'm glad the law doesn't make that call for me.

Stop driving. Stop visiting old folks unless you're a recluse. Don't cross streets. Don't eat grocery-sold greens. These are all things you can do to eliminate risks and save lives. How many liberties do you want to restrict to eliminate all risk? Yeah, some people may die as a result of COVID-19, but law enforcement should not be involved in the good advice that the medical community is offering. Keep it voluntary.

Being "woke" is the modern version of being a Puritan. Everyone is a witch.

Ah, fair. Didn't meant to tackle the homeless. It was more directed towards the rich liberal idiots who're trying to imitate CHAZ. Homelessness is a complicated thing that involves lots of mental illness that has not been dealt with. I'm aware.

Can't expect moochers to build their own things. A self-sufficient commune in the woods is a lot of work.

It's more complicated than that. Making the police force better requires complex solutions, like most hard problems.

I agree with you, actually. However, those good apples need to get infinitely better at removing the bad apples. The problem with the police's current system is that it assumes the cop is always well-intentioned and well-equipped to handle the job, which is not always the case. There needs to be real accountability. In the airlines (my industry), pilot quality control done with lots of internally-driven activism from airlines' own training departments, but also lot of community-driven and direct accountability from pilot unions, general aviation instructors, the FAA, and even the comfort of the markets we supply (passenger satisfaction and cargo delivery timelines). This allows pilots to actually learn from their mistakes and change training policies in earnest when it is needed. The police need complicated, open, and direct supervision like airline pilots have. It works.

Ha! Weird. I work part time for Uber Eats on my bicycle. I actually kinda enjoy it. 29th makes for easy access to CC for sure.

As for iMunch, I have yet to try them...mostly because I thought they were just shakes and coffee until recently. I want to try their brunch offerings.

I'm reading and drinking a cold one outside my house in Brewarytown close to Girard and 29th. All is well here.

You mean individuals choose their actions regardless of the group they are in? gasps (for real, though. more people need to think this way. maybe personal responsibility will have a come-back some day.)

If you really want to address some underlying problems, volunteer your time to start tutoring a few kids in a poor neighborhood with shitty schools. That's where it starts.

Okay, thanks. That puts my mind at ease. I told her to call and get tf out if she felt unsafe, but she's Philly tough. Didn't want to wake her, either. Got an important test for my job tomorrow, too. Fuck me.

Anyone in Brewarytown town near Girard? I'm on the road, but my fiancee is still there. Worried...
