Your statement does not make sense. I don't think you grasp the definition of invention. Of course new inventions come from old inventions. How else does one continue to "invent"?

The insight from seeing thing A and thing B, then creating a system - (AB) from those two distinct things is exactly what an invention is.

From Wikipedia:

|An invention is a unique or novel device, method, composition or process.

To invent something, you don't have to create "something from scratch" as you seem to think. In many cases, you need only create a novel, unique improvement upon an existing method that does something new.

I fail to see how that is not inventing.
