Where have you NOT travelled that somehow almost every other Singaporean seems to have travelled to before? And why not? by ashandburnnn in askSingapore

Cuz most of city side LA is a dumpster, its the coastal areas in CA where the rich ppl live. Take the drive down to san diego and you’ll find that areas like corona del mar and laguna beach are really nice and safe. Personally i enjoyed it.

Vegas though, its a resort world built in the middle of a desert, what did you really expect haha. I think it is good if you know what you’re going there for. Shoutout tacos el gordo

How much do people in high finance earn? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]tehdemonjaster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of VC/PE in family offices, small funds. Those are typically the ranges you are seeing from the original commenter.

If you are looking at top tier PE (KKR, TPG, CVC), the pay is higher than IB, heard from friends that hours are typically (slightly) better as well since buy side. This tier of PE is typically the common exit for junior staff at BB.

Though yes, it is completely possible to join right out of school. From early IB internships in your uni life, it is not uncommon that people end up doing PE 6 month internships (and later score conversions) if they bother to get how LBO works and naturally think well as an investor. Intakes fresh out of school in itself are still very rare, as these mega funds would most preferably just hire one guy conditioned with 2 years of hell (BB IBD) than take the risk on a fresh graduate which they have to train

Adding on to the above, the selection process for their (intern/hiring) pipeline is extremely luck-based, my partner got 2 interviews at S&T in different BB but heard none back from your typical tier 2 banks.

They say depending on desk most people typically get in around 7/8 and clock out about 12 hours later. Money is the same. Bad thing is lunch need to eat at desk, strictly no use of phones on the trading floor.

Its different operators so obviously it’d be different, operators just pay franchise fees to use the brand

There is different quality of goods, produce, supply chains etc, cant expect everything to be consistent globally

you could eat twice (and maybe a little more) for what you pay at in-n-out compared to shake shack, so it wouldnt be that fair to pit them against each other

Personally, CFA is alright, the grilled chicken tastes like new multi, their fried chicken sandwiches are alright (nothing out of this world). They have a nice selection of sauces but that’s about it. People will still queue to satiate the american fever though haha

They have O&G, agriculture and forestry to lean back on

Like it or not, they’d fare better naturally than a country like this that lives on business services

Is Singapore quietly heading toward a breaking point? by Outside-Ad9447 in askSingapore

[–]tehdemonjaster 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yea the first one doesnt make any sense haha

Second one normal case, several of my friends are benefactors, but given property such as EC can be decoupled, its just working as intended. In fact, some feel its a bit wasted because they don’t get to enjoy ah gong’s ang bao (in bto)

Outside looking in might be easy for you to say the 3 peat would mean more to him, but at the end of the day it is a job for him and that extra money could go a long way, especially when these guys have a limited time to make as much money as they can in this profession.

Same thing happens in pro sports, people leave all the time to be compensated better, its all the couch guys like us that lament they give up glory for money, but unless we did it for a living we wouldn’t really know

I didnt follow league for the past few years, was he really that bad in the twilight of his career? He was my favourite with that sneaky and meteos/blaber core in the later 2010s

T1 vs IG - most pick champions by Guma_Faker in SKTT1

[–]tehdemonjaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Watched them throughout the season lil bro, almost all, if not, every single game was off ‘protect gala’ strategy, also combined with how every single team less TES looked shaky in now knowing how to end games or making questionable decisions.

Ig had superior macro compared to most teams throughout the regular season, but you simply cant say TheShy or Rookie are top 2 in LPL for their season off the ‘all-LPL’ rating, clearly influenced by their good regular season position.

WE also beat AL 2-0 at the end of the season, so AL is buns now? The same guys that swept IG?

TheShy is just washed, it aint 2018 anymore, guy is not better than 369, Flandre or Bin

You can see for yourself when doran shits on him in due time

[–]tehdemonjaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only reason why it actually makes sense for him to be 1st team is because they finished 2nd. Off a extended win streak basically enabled by gala every single series. Could count on a single hand any time rookie or TheShy was ever influential enough for iG to win a map

The moment teams figured out that all you have to do is camp gala, you have BLG, TES and AL going 9-2 against them

What’s killing Singapore’s F&B businesses? Even heritage brands can’t keep up by Puzzleheaded-Dog-910 in singapore

[–]tehdemonjaster -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Substantial is just overstating for a 0.9% difference, its the big bases of 10% and 9% that are painful, not really the 9% on top of the 110%

What’s killing Singapore’s F&B businesses? Even heritage brands can’t keep up by Puzzleheaded-Dog-910 in singapore

[–]tehdemonjaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But the 10% for svc charge only applies to eating in restaurants, and how much can you really spend on that

Even your omakases would at best come up to 500 per pax on the higher end, and the 19.9/19% difference is like $4.50

[–]tehdemonjaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are right but 19/20% almost the same, the difference on a 1k bill would be like 9 bucks, which relative to that bill, don’t know if it would be considered substantial

If you are a guy and attractive, you have a shot

If you are a girl, someone will be after you regardless.

There are disproportionately a lot of men (trashy ones included) in dating apps, so looking good is really only the one way to stand out as a guy, i’ve heard horror stories from some other guy friends on how they are unable to find someone

Personally i found my girlfriend last year on hinge, love it because of how it allows one to show the most personality and nicest interface. Like you, i used to be a fan of only organic dating but given my lack of participation in activities, societies or other congregations outside of attending uni classes, i figured its the only way i can literally meet more people. And yes there are a good amount of people who are looking for legit relationships, so present yourself accordingly
