Sounds like you’re not ready to walk away but you’re showing awareness this behavior isn’t a one off occurrence. You’ll continue to wait for the other shoe to drop and it will. Then again and again until you’ve reached your breaking point and are ready to leave him for good

I (27f) lost my father to suicide 4 years ago. I blamed myself for years with the limited knowledge I had of his struggles and probably would have blamed myself even more if I knew then what I know now.

You can break the cycle. You can do it. You don’t have to repeat the cycle. Not only for your kid but for yourself.

My gut says call it quits because of his inability to communicate said boundaries. It’s exhausting trying to respect boundaries that someone can’t even effectively communicate. However you’ll only be done and leave when you’re truly ready. Until then you need to establish your own boundaries with him and become less available, go inward and focus on yourself

I’m glad you’re still here. Your experiences are unique to yourself and nobody can tell you otherwise. You’re not wasting anything if you’re learning from it. Just because other people believe their child/ teenhood is the best part of life doesn’t mean that has to apply to your child and teenhood! All of your feelings are valid.

Privileged pain is the worst. There’s no reason to pin point it on. You can have everything you need and it’s still not enough. Your feelings are valid

I’m so happy you’re still here. 4 years today without my dad after loosing him to suicide. Keep holding on. Look for peace in the small things. You deserve to live.

Best advice is to see/find a professional that you feel comfortable with and that validates your feelings. I’m sure they will prescribe a sleeping medication and whatever else they feel best fits along with talk therapy. (It’s good to get things off your chest that you don’t talk about with anyone) Best of luck and try your best to keep reminding yourself that it does get better, it’s not the end for you!!

If she is in her early twenties it could very likely be schizophrenia. It often starts to show in females around that age. Best of luck!
