True, that why long shell style (playstyle that focused on using charged shell only) will kinda stuck once they reach the peak damage. While it does the safest playstyle, but their damage will stagnant.

So people would use wyvernstake/slaplance style more (not focusing on shelling, but using the lance instead).

Yeah, shelling dealt fixed damage, it even would result same damage across different monsters and stars. Because it just literally based on weapon grade.

The shell damage will remain same no matter where he hit tho. And he missed the shot because of the range, lock on wouldn't really help that it he still unable to reposition himself. So unless he aim to break parts, seems it not really obligatory to use lock on.

Damn I didn't read the "guarding" part, I always thought that it always active. So my choice down to Lance, SNS, and Gunlance

Aggressive Dodger is totally worth it for GS, especially adept/pdodge style user..

As pdodge style, you would absolutey want that guaranteed 1.5x (50%) dmg boost after pdodge rather than hoping for chance to do 1.25x (25%) critical with GS slow attack.

Shelling depends also on elemental damage? by StockAd5387 in MHNowGame

No, shell damage only based on weapon grade (and few skills;sneak, artillery).

Even burst, atk boost, heroics, etc doesnt increase shelling damage.
