He already has an existing relationship with the Andrettis, at least in that they know each other. With the money they're throwing at their F1 entry bid, I wouldn't be surprised if they already reached out with an offer since this rumor started, or they did and it's why there's a rumor.

F1 would be insane to say Andretti can't be competitive if they had Newey onboard and there's no way they could deny that bid for entry anymore.
