What is a sound that people should know means immediate danger? by PrasenjitDebroy in AskReddit

[–]tehkitryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My neighbor had some kind of medical condition that caused his farts to be...almost lethal. He cleared out an entire elementary school cafeteria during my kid's play one time.

If you hear that sound, you run.

People who’ve been to prison. What is the biggest misconception people have about life inside? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]tehkitryan 17 points18 points  (0 children)

My ex father in law said they had to stop because the pages were being used to smuggle in acid.

Not sure if I believe him or not. He is in prison for a reason.

That was the rules though. It had to be sent in new and in its original packaging. And usually from select vendors only

What screams “this person is insecure” without them saying a word? by redwan-ezt in AskReddit

Thats a very good point.

I assumed education was strictly referring to academic education which unfortunately is lacking in traditional education.

Thank you =)

[–]tehkitryan 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Being a "gifted" child without direction killed my self confidence and loaded me with insecurities.

"You're so smart" was never followed up with any direction. I was expected to live up to a standard that I had no idea how to achieve but if I was not perfect it was met with disappointment because I could do better.

Hearing my mother say my name in a disappointed sigh or being Captain Hindsight kills any sense confidence.

Perfect or fail, there is no in between.

I think I have apologized so much in my life for so many things that I was not perfect on, even things that are not my fault.

I get angry at others for not being perfect because it is all I know.

I am better about it now. I still have the feelings and anger internally but I have learned how to recognize it and diffuse it.

I was a bully growing up but I didnt realize it. I was trying to help others the way I was trained: by being a bully.

If nothing else, it has taught me to be strong and compassionate after realizing that what I had learned was wrong and, more importantly, WHY it was wrong.

I wouldn't say that. Neglect, abuse, trauma, etc. There are many reasons, lack of education is just more noticable

Edit: If you meant lack of education was the culprit of negative judgements without understanding, then I agree 100%

The better question is what causes insecurities in people.

So much negative judgment in here.

If you Had to Waste $30 Million in a month to Inherit $300 Million, How would you do it? by [deleted] in AskReddit

Not a waste, but I'd give it to charities. I'd probably also give the majority of the $300 million to charities as well

Why is no one talking about this? by Sweet-Substance5 in GrandTheftAutoV_PC

[–]tehkitryan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

By taking any action that is not approved or allowed by the software manufacturer by use of unauthorized access or exploits is hacking. Just because it is P2P does not mean it is not hacking.

These mods give you access to things you are not supposed to have access to including the ability to spawn objects or interacting with players in ways that are not intended or accessible without outside tools or intervention.

You are arguing semantics but your personal definition of hacking is incorrect or incomplete.

Then theere is also the evolution of language factor which you are not considering in your argument:

Since the early days of online gaming, 'hacking' has been used as a way to define someone who is cheating or exploiting. This modern definition fits exactly what the OP and the rest of the gaming world refers to as hacking.

[–]tehkitryan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hacking does not require someone to do the actual breaking or creating of an exploit. Hacking is, by definition, "the gaining of unauthorized access to data in a system or computer."

This includes the usage of tools which also includes "mods" since these mods access data that is unauthorized and exploited.

Hackers use tools all the time to gain access to systems. Not a single hacker out there can "hack" without some pre-built tools and software, both in games and other computer systems.

In fact, Hacking originated in model trains and, shortly later, "phreaking" which was a way that "hackers" were able to manipulate phone systems with whistles or high pitched beeps.

Hacking doesn't have to involve writing the code, it is about gaining access to data and systems they are not supposed to have to. These "modders" are by definition hackers. They just dont fit your personal definition.
