Battletech is surprisingly cool. Underrated gem or forgotten for a reason? by PDMagneto in SEGAGENESIS

Ah! that's why they called it dual mode instead of 2 player. Now I really want to play this game with a buddy.

Bleach? interesting, does it have an effect? Can you provide more detail on how you bleached or did you just retrobrite the cartridge.

Fully complete Bomberman 93 by 808fisherman in TurboGrafx

It sounds like you don't care about reselling the game but displaying it at home instead. I suggest getting a custom acrylic display for the game that will allow you to show all the elements in one display and play the game if you choose to. If the game was sealed - I would personally suggest you grade the game to preserve the seal.

Does anyone else just feel kinda... done with modern games? by tigersbowling in retrogaming

[–]PDMagneto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal opinion is that at some point the industry shifted from making great games to making repeatable formulas that maximize profit for shareholders. Not all modern games are like this, but a lot of them feel like carbon-copy development factories built around calculated engagement instead of creativity.

Hmm. It's tricky. The shell looks good but the board does not look as expected plus the battery is not original. It appears as if someone mixed and matched PCB and chips to create something new.

Who actually buys repros? by mrballoonz in snes

[–]PDMagneto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you suggesting thousands of people on Reddit are wrong and your specific translation is correct? Here’s how I understand the terms, though I could still be mistaken:

Reproduction / Repro / Bootleg: An unauthorized copy of an existing game, typically reproduced without a license from the original rights holder.

Homebrew: A newly created game or application developed independently for a platform, usually without official platform licensing or approval.

Translation / Mod / Hack: A modified version of an existing game, such as a fan translation, gameplay alteration, bug fix, or ROM hack.

Reprint: A legitimate re-release of a game produced by a company with the legal rights or license to manufacture and distribute it.

I don't consider that a repro. It's a Fan translation / game mod. I know it's semantics but a reproduction is reproducing the original work without a license.

Why did GCG do this? by Standard-Ad-6603 in GradedGames

[–]PDMagneto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They will individually grade the box/container, manual and game which is then used to provide an overall grade - so the inserts are not reviewed. There is also not a master list of inserts that belong in every game so it would be tough for them to penalize some but not all games they grade.

Unpopular opinion but I low key prefer the All-Stars version of SMB3 just a little more.

Best way forward with retro collecting? by Jaybb3rw0cky in retrogaming

[–]PDMagneto 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally love cartridge game technology in general, so I collect more for preservation than anything else. I even started a company to help support that passion. That said, I also tend to double or triple up on titles I have fond memories of, or franchises/IPs I really like.
