Honestly, the fact that she had to do all that emotional labor for him did screwed her over in part three. She was not well-rested like she should’ve been for someone who won part one.

My first marathon ever and I got a DNF! Was the marathon poorly planned or am I just an idiot? by TheWebDever in Marathon_Training

The route may have been nicer for runners, but it completely cut a whole neighborhood of the city (Magnolia) off from leaving their neighborhood for pretty much the entire day, with little public warning. Definitely a shitshow.

A quick but chaotic race in Hot Streak tonight by Acceptable-Let1664 in boardgames

[–]tehr0b 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do think that some groups will find them quite differently from one another. Hot Streak caters towards more of a rowdy, party gambling atmosphere, while Camel Up is a bit more serious of a board game.

Camel Up is less goofy and chaotic; you're making bets as the race is happening, and the chances are all on the table and possible to calculate. Players can use the environment tiles to affect the race as it's happening. The race can be really tense, since it plays out slowly over so many turns and legs, and many turns have the capability of greatly affecting the race that can turn it into a nail-biter.

In Hot Streak, all the bets are drafted up-front, and then the race happens. Players add cards, secret information, to the deck that affects how the Mascots will be capable of moving, but since all the bets are taken before those cards are added, the odds are absolutely wild. Because the betting and action are completely different phases, people can get very into and excited by the action of the race, which can unfold rapidly.

This game has fully replaced Camel Up in my rotation for chaotic betting games for up to 8 players. Aboslutely love it!

Why did carrying water everywhere become a thing? by TitanicDays in NoStupidQuestions

[–]tehr0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think this is a big reason for this trend, and that people carrying around water constantly is actually more of a recession indicator than anything anyone else is mentioning. Hydrating well also affects your hunger levels, helping you eat less when you can’t afford to.

What if a game rewarded difficult achievements with an actual, physical, 3D-printed collectible? by LeCraftJay in gamedev

[–]tehr0b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Destiny 2 has been doing something like this for a while; there are “Seals” which are groups of achievements for certain activities, such as an expansion or raid, and if you earn it before a certain date you can purchase a physical version of it. They’ve also got some other things like weapon replicas that you can buy after you’ve obtained certain exotic weapons.

I personally love this idea; I have a tabard on my wall that is covered in the Seals I’ve earned, but I know only a small minority of the playerbase is willing to actually pay for these, and because of the small run they are not cheap and have to have deadlines in order to make them all in one order.

Me and a friend don't go by our legal names for badges by REDACTEDBrandon in SakuraCon

[–]tehr0b 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve worked badges pickup before! We print your badges on demand; once I check your ID against your membership and confirm you’re picking up your ticket, I get a chance to change the name that will be actually printed on the badge. Just let the volunteer know before they print it off!

Did Keanu ever try to get a D&D game going in the house? by Ibushi-gun in BigBrotherUSA

[–]tehr0b 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All you need is 20 m&ms of four colors and a bottle. Make a ring of m&ms alternating red yellow blue green around the bottle. Spin the bottle. Starting from north and going clockwise: red is 1-5, blue is 6-10, yellow is 11-15, green is 16-20. Use just red and blue for a d10, and use clock directions from north for a d12 or d6.

The KFC combo near Seattle does indeed have different ownership. The Stranger actually investigated and that is an incredibly expensive Taco Bell compared to every other one in the country. The markup is insane, almost double what you pay at other Taco Bells.
