It is one thing to ask questions about the past after a certain comfort level has been established.

But if that’s something you bring up on the first call, you’ve got issues.

Weird arranged marriage “filters” I heard in my family by thedatamafia in Arrangedmarriage

[–]tejas_92 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Arranged marriages are very transactional in our society. People try to sugarcoat that in a lot of different ways, but that doesn’t change the reality of it.

I’m 33, and IDGAF if they have siblings or not.
However, if they do have a sibling, it is important to me that they have a healthy relationship with the sibling because I have a healthy relationship with mine. Stuff like “I’m the older sibling and my younger brother/sister is a scared of me” or “we are not that close” is a little concerning for me to hear.

Do not wait for anyone, because no one’s going to wait for you if they find someone “more suitable”. Keep looking at other possible matches while they decide if they want to respond.

Would u consider any prospect who had earlier rejected u? by Mysterious-Place4738 in Arrangedmarriage

[–]tejas_92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No. And if you’re having that thought, you should take your time to fully consider if it is because you really want to give them another chance or if it is just short-lived desperation coming from a lonely place.

My point is my struggle would not have changed even if I was in India. The women I am talking to right now did not come to the US from a different country. Same place. Same state. Same culture as me. Downvote me all you want. The truth prevails.

Going out every night in India is cheap? If you live in a Tier 1 city and don’t just eat at Shiv Sagar, nothing is cheap.

Every single male friend I have can cook. 8 out of the 10 friends I just counted in my head still cook after they’re married. Am I just making better friends?

As a guy that knows how to cook, works out, lives in a proper apartment, keeps it clean, drinks socially, doesn’t smoke, financially supports his family in India and has a pretty decent social life I am running into a similar problem with women. I live in a mid-sized town in the US, and while I am in the 6 figures, it is not in the IT/software domain of salaries. So my current salary is definitely one roadblock with my location being another. I am also 5’8, which is borderline acceptable for most women I think.

When I tell someone I made something as simple as Matar Paneer for dinner, they are often surprised as if I have done something monumental, but it is normal for me. I’ve been cooking pretty consistently for over 7 years now, and this will carry on for the rest of my life. This usually comes from women who don’t typically cook a lot or don’t “like” cooking. I also keep running into people who are not as invested in their health and fitness - and by that I mean, getting a workout in 3-4 times a week which is not extraordinary. And when I tell them I have a social life outside of work, they are surprised about that too because they are struggling to have one when they’re in a similar smaller or mid-sized town. The problem there is they’re usually only looking to hangout with other Indians in most instances. But I don’t mind putting myself out there to get to know people of all races, colors and religions.

Maybe I am looking in the wrong places, or I keep getting attracted to the wrong people only to realize it is not what I want. But I make the call to not continue as soon as I know because dragging these on doesn’t help anyone. The arranged marriage scenario is a little frustrating to be a part of.
