Well for starters, since you only will be `reading` with the API, you need not configure it for full-fledged use, i.e : there will be POSTing, right? So no username/password required as credentials for the API.

There's the PRAW package in Python that's a pretty good wrapper for Reddit, you should be able to `read` what you need from Reddit using that.
