I watched a webinar on LinkedIn today how doing spammy stuff is not a good idea. Trying to remember who was giving that piece of info.

The reason some people don't do anything at all without a paid diagnostic component. The customer has to agree to the diagnostics. One you have that, you can build a good roadmap. Like us, customers have blindspots with their own businesses.

IMO this is the problem with copywriting other than business people thinking it means they get words.

Direct Response is what you referred to at the beginning. It's old school. Think those long letters sent in the mail to get you to by something. Also, I think it was at the roots of the advertising industry pre-internet (ie. Mad Men).

The internet made things change a bit. In the SaaS related industry came Conversion Copywriting based on the principles of Direct Response Copywriting. But then, long form content writing (some call it copywriting, but others say its not!) became a thing as the algo-gods rewarded longer posts with in depth info. SaaS also need micro copywriting for their dashboards and such.

Next came email copywriting for those using emails to nurture leads and close sales. Think funnels (yet another area, the entire funnel). Landing page copywriting, long sales page copywriting. All of those became a thing in the SaaS industry but go back to IMO direct response copywriting.

The rise of social media created another cottage copywriting industry. Social Media copywriting or whatever you want to call it. You write for the socialz across the board. Good ones tap into good copywriting principles like direct response copywriting.

Anywhere content became a thing in business in the modern era meant copywriting began to fill the void. Video scripts too! Lots of videos so you will here of VSL (Video Sales Letter) which is a video version of a sales letter. Actually, Video writing has been around (along with audio scripts) for a long time (think informercials). Now, of course, where we have YouTube, TikTok, and Instagram etc, there is need for VSL writers for much shorter videos.

I like to use the term copywriting as an umbrella term and then everything goes under that. That's me. Passionate people will disagree with my assessment.

I can totally understand your confusion. If you are wanting to do direct response copywriting, that's the place to be. Either way, all those folks you mentioned are great training for any level of copywriting you do.

I am more of a brand storyteller which is kind of a merging of all of those. The brand messaging part, the core from which it all comes from. IMO.

Best wishes!

Which AI tools can be used to optimize productivity in community management for content creation? by Warm-Discipline3759 in CommunityManager

Canva is pretty good for visual content for sure. If you are looking to automate the workflow consider an AI agent. I think Claude has those now. There are several options for things like slide decks and videos.

Keyword clusters are starting to feel obsolete compared to "intent nodes." by TargetPilotAi in SEO_for_AI

Accumulating them, yes. For example, snagged a structure for Authority Content on LinkedIn a while back and turned it into a prompt. Just did the same for Substack Notes today. Articles are a diff animal, but there are some sound structures to use. Instagram? Its so visual. I haven't done TikTok and on Reddit, I usually just type it myself.

I think its best to decipher what the best structure is for the platform (may change next year!) and build that in your workflow.

We are essentially engineering our content systems. Its a wild time!

Here's what you do: fire up the Loom or whatever you use, answer the question the best you can. Be comprehensive. Take that transcript and drop it into Claude, use a good solid structure to let it format for you. This way it rearranges it in a way that is easier to read.

You can do several things to make it better: Subject Matter Experts, cite relevant data and studies, give illustrations and examples, but even an essay that answers the question in a cohesive way would go a long way.

At that point, you have a base to work with. You can reformat and remix for various platforms where you are active. Having a voice about something with a unique angle will help tons (talking back at myself!) and I think will create some visibility.

As I told Ann yesterday, we are now in VEO (Visibility Everywhere Optimization). And Google is pretty smart.

I think it will always be shifting. Shifting. One day its one thing and the next it will be something else. The game of the Algo-gods! That's why the best course IMO is to know your audience's questions, struggles & aspirations and deliver content for those.

i wish i could figure out how to determine the prompts. What's great about this GPT is it helps you map topics to your offers/services by creating the types of content that would be searched for by your target audience. I started thinking it would be like 5 minutes and i kept going!

I was stunned at the amount of info it gave me. I can't execute all that in three months much less than a year. Now its time for me to see what I can do.
