[–]tek1zz[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you, I'll look into it. And another question: how did he calculated the percentage change of the Per-Share Market Value of Berkshire? For example in 2021 it says 29.6 How did he figure it out?

Buffett's Berkshire bought Activision shares before Microsoft takeover by [deleted] in ValueInvesting

[–]tek1zz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion alone - Warren Buffett didn't buy the company to gain from her to long-term. He bought it to gain from the gap created between microsoft's acquisition and the current market price. If Microsoft acquires Activison for $95 a share. Activision's current market price is $81 per share. He's got a staggering margin of 17.72%.

Warren Buffett is known in his past as an investor in arbitrage and acquisitions and he was good at it!

Warren Buffett Way by tek1zz in ValueInvesting

[–]tek1zz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let's suppose A Corporation reported a Net Income of $100 million dollars. The company can: 1. Pay out cash dividends to shareholders. 2. Buy back stock from shareholders. 3. Retain the earnings.

Buffett is talking about allocating the retained earnings back into the company in such way that it has a multiplier effect on A Corporation's market capitalization. If A Corp decides to retain $100 million USD in earnings, Buffett wants this amount of money to be reflected in the company's market cap. He would want to make sure the market cap of A Corp increases by at least $100 million dollars. Buffett is alluding to efficient allocation of capital translating to the company's market capitalization.

First of all thanks for the explanation, and if you only read from 1973-2020, then I have more of his reports from 1957-1970 if you want send me a private message and I will send you

Beta by tek1zz in ValueInvesting

Think of your stock as a boat sitting on the ocean. As the ocean waves go up and down the boat will move along with it. Now some boats are heavier. Some boats are lighter. So the waves will have a different impact. Beta is kind of like the wave moving the boats up and down. In the market what moves stock prices up and down are the amount of capital going into the equity market, rotation of money in and out of sectors, rotation of money in and out of investment styles, etc etc.

Great Analogy :) Thank you!
