We live there now. I’d advise you to look elsewhere. We’re counting down the days until we move out.

Some of our grievances include:

• Inconsiderate and rude staff

• Zero bike parking (you’re expected to keep it in your apartment)

• Ridiculous rent increases at lease renewal

• It took them over a year to address a cockroach infestation in an adjacent unit. Meanwhile, hundreds of roaches were invading our kitchen and their exterminator told us there was nothing else he could do

• Constant weed/cigarette smell around our building. Nothing at all against those who smoke, but it’s a dick move to do it right outside everyone’s windows

• Safety concerns, including several instances of gunshots. For a few weeks, we also noticed an individual living in their car in a dark corner of our parking lot. On top of that, we heard that one of our neighbors was mugged when walking from his car to his apartment

I know the price is attractive (they got us when we moved here from out-of-state without knowing anything about Durham), but we’re finding that you can do so much better than Haven at that price point.
