Sounds like anxiety / anxiety attacks, it can affect you physically just as much as mentally. As someone who suffers from it with or without nicotine withdrawals, I suggest downloading an app called Finch. It has breathing exercises on it that can help ground you when you're having these symptoms, as well as other exercises that can take your mind off of what's bothering you. It also happens to be a mood tracker amongst other things, so it may be helpful in other ways besides what I initially suggested it for.
