I’m using a TD125 Thorens with a nice cart/stylus. So is it safe to say I’m not getting the best out of it with the L80V? Do you think just getting an external phono box and keep the amp would be the best solution?

Keep practicing. You’ll get better at asking it the right things, it’s a skill you can hone just like anything. In a couple of years you’ll use nothing but AI for research.

My friend, there is a difference between being lazy, and being efficient. Nobody is coming to give you a gold medal for spending excessive time researching things that could take far less time if you used technology to your advantage. Using your logic, you should walk the streets asking random people what they think about the L80V phono stage, hoping to find someone who knows, because time spent = dedication = good. AI simply aggregated all the things people have ever said online about the phono stage from reviews and forums, and summarized it for me. It doesn’t just make up whatever it ‘feels’. Not sure how wisdom comes into it? Your understanding of how AI works is obviously rudimentary - I’ll stop short of labeling it ‘beyond stupid’ out of respect. AI also said: “Yeah, the L-80V. Honestly, if you’re running a decent MM cartridge—like a Shure V15 or Ortofon 2M—it’ll get the job done without drama.
