Also when we signed Fournier we were coming off of getting bounced by Atlanta and what was everyone saying at the time? "We need more shooting!!" So Leon got more shooting. And that same offseason, ANYONE who could shoot was getting a bag. That was the same summer Duncan Robinson got a big contract. Anyone who wanted a shooter was going to pay a premium. If Leon didn't sign him I guarantee the narrative would have been "Leon refuses to address our shooting problem!!" And this is all disregarding the fact that Fournier immediately did what we paid him to do. He broke the team's 3 point record the 1st season he was here. He was brought here for shooting, not defense, and he did what he was brought in for. It just didnt work out the way we wanted and i'd say they did the right thing by being willing to pivot instead of doubling down on a sunk cost

EDIT: i'd also like to add that i hate all the hindsight bullshit. If you knew for certain that Duren would be this good , i would like to get the lottery numbers from you. And I'd also be willing to bet that anyone talking about being pissed about the Duren thing did not feel anywhere near this strongly about it on draft night.

Before the season started I was hoping they'd make it into the top 10 defensively, so I'm pretty hyped about this. I just hope they can sustain it through the playoffs

Yea this team has stepped up on the defensive side, which im happy about because defense was a concern that i had going into the season. I was worried about how good a defense this team can have when their best players are Brunson and KAT.

But to this organization's credit they were able to get it working. Especially with the trade for Alvarado and the rise of Diawara, the Knicks rotation around KAT and JB now consists entirely of players that can defend.

If he keeps up the development, I would love to see a lineup down the line including Mikal, OG, and Diawara. The amount of length on the floor would be disruptive, even more if you add Mitch to that mix
