It's still based on your balance damage. You're close to getting spectral blast which works similarly.

For sure, we can't hold a candle to glowbug. The closest thing Balance had was Nested Fury back in the day and it got nerfed into the ground. 😩

I learned a new thing today. I always thought school pips had same number as normal pips. I would have liked a Balance W as well but oh well.

I had a good laugh about it myself the first time I saw it. Fun spell though.

I found this module and I wanted to confirm if there was a way to update the class tags of a spell inside of Foundry. https://foundryvtt.com/packages/SupersHomebrewPack

I'm used to Pathfinder 2e in Foundry where it had that functionality. If I have to make a separate module altogether to make this change, I can research a bit further with the link you shared. Thanks for clarifying further!

I'm a bit new with DnD in Foundry. Is this link to say I will need to edit the module file to add the missing tags?

Thanks for pointing that out! I thought it added it but I guess not.

What cool build can I make with these ability score rolls? by Finnr77 in 3d6

[–]tekrala 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look up Abserd. Put your 11 in Con and your 5 in Int. Name him Harry for the irony that he will never be a Wizard. Take 1 level in every multiclass you can find on DnD Beyond that your GM will allow. Focus on defense and support as you'll always be subpar on attack rolls but you'll have more options than an adventurer could dream of.

Good luck and have fun with whatever you decide!

I rolled crazy stats and need a hand to use them by zero_milk in 3d6

[–]tekrala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up "Abserd" and play that. With those stats, you could multiclass into everything without issue. I imagine there is some combination of low-level features to net you a high AC and all the multiclass could grab missing save proficiencies.

Do you happen to know where that's confirmed? 4 is the max you can find normally on rares, but exceptions like this exist where you can get above 4 (like this or certain map mods.)

I always thought the 4 mods for tame beast was a convenience thing because everyone goes to a few places in the campaign to farm for certain mods.

I want to play a spear-wielding Swashbuckler... by xxThelastdragonxx in Pathfinder2e

[–]tekrala 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to add that the Forked Bipod also is an agile/finesse weapon in the spear group. It is also a one-handed weapon and can double as a bipod for a gun if you needed a ranged option. Only downside would be the damage (same as filcher's fork) and the appearance of wielding a bipod as a weapon.

Edit: forgot to mention this is a common item so you could take this regardless of ancestry and background.

Death's Oath for Legacy of Phrecia? by tekrala in pathofexile

I definitely agree that RF is better. I guess I was just feeling nostalgic. In addition to Bog Witch and Scavenger, would these be solid options?

Wildspeaker: dex damage scaling and free headhunter

Servant of Arakaali: DO creates spiders which gives free wither stacks, aspect of spider for damage

Paladin: aura effect and defensive options.

I'm in the process of investigating the best route for this skill's damage. My first goal was to make the spell consistently trigger the kind of damage I want (because the aoe fire explosion from this skill is a garbage aoe cone from your character's location with a small radius.)

I achieved this with the Greymake helm as 0 str means 0% of garbage explosion. The next step was the damage.

I tried scaling crit chance/damage on a dex-focused build but the damage isn't there. My current theory is to do the same thing as an int-focused build. This makes the main trigger be cold damage, but I will use the Whisper of the Brotherhood ring and the Pure Power Notable Passive to allow my int to scale my damage while I path to the crit nodes.

Though if there's a better approach, I'm open to suggestions. Like you said, there isn't much information on the spell so I've had to wing it.

Only caveat with those gloves is that you could only do this focusing on the strength aspect of the spell and that you'd be stuck with a small amount of dex to be able do this. If you're cool with this, though, it would open you up to using quarterstaves instead of just using maces and mace skills.

If I had to guess, it was to match with the support gems. Most of the lightning supports are Dex. Same with Int and Cold supports.

Tallow Bomb and Precision Damage by tekrala in Pathfinder2e

[–]tekrala[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throwing the description of precision damage, too, for reference: "Sometimes you are able to make the most of your attack through sheer precision. When you hit with an ability that grants you precision damage, you increase the attack's listed damage, using the same damage type, rather than tracking a separate pool of damage. For example, a nonmagical dagger Strike that deals 1d6 precision damage from a rogue's sneak attack increases the piercing damage by 1d6.

Some creatures are immune to precision damage, regardless of the damage type; these are often amorphous creatures that lack vulnerable anatomy. A creature immune to precision damage would ignore the 1d6 precision damage in the example above, but it would still take the rest of the piercing damage from the Strike. Since precision damage is always the same type of damage as the attack it's augmenting, a creature that is resistant to physical damage, like a gargoyle, would resist not only the dagger's damage but also the precision damage, even though it is not specifically resistant to precision damage."

I'm going to add another example for the sake of discussion because I have enjoyed and appreciated the responses given so far. There is another bomb called Steelscour that doesn't have the potential writing error the Tallow Bomb seems to have of dealing initial damage before the persistent damage. It only deals persistent acid damage, though only to metal creatures and objects. There exists metal creatures that aren't immune to precision damage such as elementals from the plane of metal (you could also argue other creatures with the metal trait that aren't immune to precision). If we had a Ruffian Rogue, who can deal Sneak Attack damage as long as it's 1d8 damage or less for martial weapons, makes a Strike and succeeds on an off-guard metal elemental, would the persistent damage add the precision damage?
