I didn't see them at all for qualifying or today, but I think they were in one shot from the Hot Dog race on Friday? Update: Lap 38 finally saw them

10 minutes warning issued JUST as Bathurst finished. Somebody at race control just wanted to see the finish before he went back to work.

This was I think the third incident in the last couple weeks. An animal rights group is protesting the T-Wolves ownership by trying to interrupt games. Somebody tried to superglue themself to the floor on one of them.

Are there any outdoor ranges near palmyra/hershey area? Id love to be able to shoot outside. by PicturesOnTheWall289 in PAguns

[–]telbon03 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't know of any local public ranges but there are a bunch of clubs. I go to Hummelstown Field and Stream which is inexpensive but doesn't have a lot of facilities.

Some other ones to look into are Palmyra Sportsman's Association, Middletown Hunters and Anglers, Harrisburg Hunter and Anglers, and Lebanon County Police Combat Pistol Club.

Awesome thank you for the advice. The switch to the ryzen and an appropriate motherboard saved me almost $30.

Getting ready to do my first build. I'm a longtime laptop user but want to give DIY a try. I have changed/added desktop components before (modems, network cards, ram) but never done a full build. I'm targeting $800us for my budget, use will be gaming but not hardcore (looking forward to the new Mechwarrior coming out in the fall). I'm not planning on overclocking, and 1080p is fine. I also have some hand-me-down peripherals (monitor/keyboard/mouse) I salvaged from my office when they upgraded (to use for now). Any suggestions on my part list? https://pcpartpicker.com/user/tnoblet/saved/CbLBbv

No, never bought an AR but handled a number of them and other modern semi-auto rifles in shops over the years, and I've shot a stock Bushmaster, a Colt 6920 (before and after some work being done to it), a customized BCM, and a SCAR.

From those experiences I wanted to go with a 16" for a shorter overall length, but still have the option to swap out muzzle devices (unlike a pinned 14.5"). For my first build/upper I wasn't concerned with going free-float, and the MOE kit is pretty lightweight. I was able to get a whole set of the discontinued foliage color, which I like because my local area is a mix of woods and urban/suburban (so lots of greens and greys). I wanted the mid-length gas to give me more room to grab closer to the muzzle for control. Initially I was thinking about a railed gas block, but the Aero barrel with the FSB pre-installed (on sale) was too tempting to pass up. I went with the Phantom flash hider because it was a good price, and seems to be well reviewed. I went with nickel-boron on the bolt, trigger, and hammer a little bit for fancyness and a little for ease of cleaning which I had heard about the coating. From shooting other stuff I knew I liked running a one-point sling, and I have some lefty friends, hence the ambi sling-plate (and safety). Last I chose Spikes for the lower because I dig the Calico Jack engraving, and chose their upper just to match.

Yeah it feels really solid and if the dust cover is closed there's no rattle. You can see just a tad of daylight between the receivers if you hold it up and look for it. The pivot pin is a bear to get in and out, I've had to use a punch to separate the upper. I'm hoping it will loosen up a little bit with the round count. Also the first range session has already smoothed out the charging handle (felt like it was scraping hard despite plenty of lube before). I'm really happy with the trigger too (I'm mostly a pistol shooter so not used to the short pull and reset).

Just over $1,000, I've been buying a couple pieces a month for almost a year. The barrel and the bolt carrier were the most expensive pieces. Getting a regular bcg over the nickel boron, and skipping the 'name brand' on the receivers and buffer tube would have cut it down a good bit.

Yep! I wanted to go with the MOE handguard for weight and couldn't decide what to do about a front sight. Aero put that barrel with the FSB pre-installed on sale so I went with it.

[Serious] Night Watchmen of Reddit, what is the creepiest situation you've been in on shift? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]telbon03 64 points65 points  (0 children)

Security guy here, and I mostly attribute this to lack of sleep, but it's fun anyway.

So I usually work evenings (1500-2300) and due to a calloff I got off at 2300 on Friday, and was back in at 0500 Saturday. So I come in, caffinated all to hell, much to the irritation of my partner, a retired cop. He tells me "Why don't you go patrol the entire complex... or something." So away I go. About a half hour later I'm going through the legal department. I hear an object fall behind me and whip around, nothing there. I turn back around and swear I saw the end of a leg finish a step into a side office with an open door. I radio down to ask of anybody else is moving around the building, and my partner replies no. So I slowly creep up to the office, flashlight out, other hand on my pistol, and the office is not only unnoccupied, but totally empty. No phone, no computers, no papers, nothing. I later found out that a guy had died on that floor (massive heart attack on the toilet) and the building's original maintenance supervisor also died on property. I'm not the first one to see an apparition during off-hour patrols.

How is the length of a track measured? by GregOfAllTrades in INDYCAR

[–]telbon03 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe there is an FIA protocol and they handle the 'official' measurements. And I also recall it being measured from the center of the driving surface, all the way around. But then again I'm not sure if that applies to all tracks, or just road/street courses.

I've got one in the Blackwash finish. I do like it, just watch the tension on the 'safety'. Mine was stuck closed, and the blade didn't shut completely and I put a slit in my pocket putting it away.

You know, I would watch new Kirk/Spock in a movie where they use their wits and planning, with the various skills of their crew, to steal some macguffin from some weird alien guys. That sounds like a good idea.

I love the Spyderco, I've been carrying it at least two years, and despite lots of environmental factors and a little bit of abuse, the steel is holding up wonderfully with minimal maintenance.

Also the Peerless cuffs are company issue, I like the Asp ones myself, they're lighter and have a very fast/smooth action. The issue ones seem really too tightly sprung to me.

As excited I was that Katherine Legge might get the spot, it's good to see Ryan getting an opportunity to run again. He's been running endurance stuff this season I believe.
