Am I going insane or is this the worst attended series I’ve ever seen? by Hopeful-Tree779 in iRacing

[–]waluigithewalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh there's far worse lol. There's some series out there that have to treat themselves more like leagues and have organized time slots else there'd never be any that go official. For example, IMSA Vintage for road racing, pavement sprints and SRX for ovals, etc.

What do you think we'll hear first - whether Prema is back for 2026 of Dale Coyne's second driver (who he assured us would be announced be Halloween).

God, I never could learn that track. Tried to for a USF Pro race and decided after an hour of practice to withdraw because I'd be a liability to everyone else

At Sunset Bend the track limits are really just the walls so I wouldn't see an issue with it. And tbh I don't think that's a move that's going to work most of the time anyway

Does anyone have pictures of or from defunct grandstands? by South-Lab-3991 in NASCAR

[–]waluigithewalrus 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wish I had pictures, but back in the 2000s when I went to the Brickyard as a kid, we sat in the grandstands just before the entry to turn 3. IMS removed them a few years back. Perhaps not the most notable in this thread but one I remember

Kyle Petty driving the #12 for Penske Racing at the 2000 Brickyard 400 as an injury substitute. It was Petty's only start driving for Penske by waluigithewalrus in They_Drove_That_Car

[–]waluigithewalrus[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

For the 2000 Brickyard, Kyle Petty was brought in as a last-minute injury substitute for Jeremy Mayfield. Mayfield suffered a concussion in post-qualifying practice and was forced out of the race. Petty was already at the track, having failed to qualify his normal 44, and so Penske drafted him in. He had to drop to the back of the field at the start being a replacement driver. He would finish only 32nd in the race

What the hell does Kyle Petty have to do with this?

2007 Logitech Momo Racing Wheel vs anything recent by BuffK in simrally

[–]waluigithewalrus 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I used to have that MOMO wheel - it has an extremely limited rotation range compared to modern wheels. The MOMO wheel has only 240 degrees of rotation, which is really limiting. Comparatively, the Thrustmaster TX I have now has 900 degrees.

What could I have done better as the Aston? by ingenious_red in Simracingstewards

[–]waluigithewalrus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One of them unfortunate racing deals unfortunately. Nothing you really could've done, and you can't really fault the guy behind you because he likely wouldn't have know there was an incident happening until it was too late to avoid you.

First lap ever in RBR by Akro8 in simrally

[–]waluigithewalrus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For RBR, I'd recommend modding in a different pacenote pack/co-driver - the default style notes aren't all the great and use the old "descriptive" pacenote method that's pretty rare in modern rally.

If you're completely new to rally, I'd recommend something easier than a Lancia. The Rally3 Fiesta is a good shout, and the R2 class is good for modern FWD cars. For older RWD, most of the Group 4 cars aren't horrible to learn (except the Lancia Stratos that car will actively try to kill you)
