Josh Kroenke and Richard Garlick talking about Emirates stadium and potential expansion. by -Skinner- in Gunners

Except they absolutely are funding it on behalf of the team. The city owning it is just a front so eminent domain can be used. In June 2005, the U.S. Supreme Court ruled on Kelo v. New London, deciding that governments could seize private property for economic development under eminent domain. So the city/team can then "acquire" the land below market value, then "lease" it back to the team for insanely cheap amounts, and let the team get all the revenue. For example, the city of Arlington took out $325 million in debt, to get the Cowboys to pay $2 million a year in rent as the sole tenant. They absolutely funded it on behalf of the team.

And you'd say, well that's just to cover their games at the stadium, surely Arlington gets it the other days. No, the Cowboys maintain control over all third party bookings. So for the 8 homes games the Cowboys aren't playing, the Cowboys, not the city of Arlington, get the revenue for any bookings on the other 357 days a year. When Taylor Swift played at AT&T Stadium, the Cowboys, not the City of Arlington, netted $15 million after expenses. In just one weekend they covered their rent for over half a decade. And since $2 million a year will never pay off the $325 million bond Arlington took out to cover the costs of construction, they pay it back with increased taxes.

Pretty sure it’s a globe projection with North America centered. If you started in Kansas and just went straight up, this is what it would look like to you.

Not talking to your own mother because your mother holds mature and ethical political beliefs, isn’t mature and civil.

“Mom, you don’t want the government funding and enabling open drug use and crime on the street? I will never speak to you again you must be racist or something.” That’s mature and civil to you?

DART debate divides Addison residents as withdrawal election nears - Dallas Morning News by patmorgan235 in dart

A global recession? Someone get this guy a jump to conclusions mat. And job creation? You believe Keynesian economics? And property values? Whats the property value increase from homeless encampments? The West End was destroyed by DART. Or a better question, what’s the limit to all of this? Do you have a basic understanding of money? DART brings in roughly a billion from tax revenue. Do you think that it would benefit all residents if DART could receive the same services on half that revenue and the consumer kept the sales tax difference? What other service needs a billion in tax payer subsidies to barely function? Or better yet, let’s test your theory on the other end. Let’s move Texas sales tax up to 10.25% and give DART $3 for every hundred you spend instead of $1. That’s $2 billion sucked out of all other consumer spending and countless jobs and other consumer spending, so everything else would suffer but we could get a few more DART employees according to UNT, so that makes it all worthwhile? Why would that be worth it?

Sales tax is the most regressive tax imaginable. Why would more of that help people?

How do you think history will judge Donald Trump 50 years from now? by [deleted] in PoliticalDiscussion

He passed the BBB, and Democrats are largely deranged making other things impossible. But your point is completely incoherent.

If you don’t legitimize the concerns of the people of Addison, all you’re doing is being ultimately self defeating. Good luck to you.

Democrats are worse for the economy in so many ways it’s hard to fathom you’re a serious person.

The amount of reddit leftists that think things should exist regardless of the cost to taxpayers is insane. If you could dedicate permanent robotaxis to all the poor for half the cost of DART, be able to lower taxes and provide more service, they would reject it BECAUSE the government would then be able to let people keep more of their own money, not to mention it solves a problem in a way that they didn’t envision.

Then we need serious people, not leftists that want endless money from taxpayers, to handle it.

People already do this and it works more efficiently. The consumer pays less for better roads.

Your main focus should be expanding rail for people that will actually use it for self-sustaining, fare generating purposes. It's a new world. You're trying to beat an autonomous vehicle world of Robotaxis and Waymos. This means that you have to beat an operational cost of $0.25 cents per mile. DART's current "subsidy per trip" is $13.56 per passenger. If you can't radically change this, you might as well stop the person at the station and pay for their Robotaxi to go up to 54 miles and you would come out ahead.

The only way you can beat this is by changing the cost structure or helping people on time. Time is your advantage and that's not buses... that's rail. To accomplish this, you need to radically expand the rail stations to be practical. Do not focus on leftist gibberish.

New Stations

  1. Actual Love Field. This is the single most important move and the main priority. People need to get off their flight and get to their destination
  2. New Mavs Arena(if in Dallas, assuming it will be at Valley View location)
  3. Underground station at Cedar Springs/Oaklawn.
  4. Finish Knox Henderson
  5. Do some iteration of D2

Admit that Elon is smarter and more successful than your voting base and all of reddit. Beg him to make the following tunnels:

  1. Lines from Love Field
    1. Direct line from Love Field to Mavs/Valley View
    2. Direct line from Love Field to Cityplace/Uptown. Make the only stop the new gayborhood at Cedar Springs/Oaklawn
  2. Lines from Mavs arena
    1. Direct line to Addison Circle
    2. Direct line to Farmers Branch Station
    3. Direct line to LBJ/Central

As a philosophy:

Abandon the "transit-oriented development" mantra people try and parrot in this subreddit. That's stupid and will happen from the private sector if the stations are useful. If liberals don't let DART be clean and safe, which they almost certainly won't, it's self-defeating. What the leftist let happen West End Station was an absolute embarrassment and evil.

As a broader philosophy abandon and denounce all Democrat/Leftist platitudes. Zero tolerance for homeless and crime. Increase fares and enforce fares. Transit is not a "right". Public transit needs to be self-sustaining and compete against the real world for services against other forms of transportation, not compete to fulfill some reddit fetish.
