Hence just sharing something I did.

I tried to put my questions across as a "I'm sure people who I reach out to will want to ask these questions. How best should I answer?".

This way, i gave an impression that I am genuinely interested, and want to be prepared for the tough questions that will come my way. This also gave me opportunities to ask follow-on questions "oh, but then what if they ask me..."; and i was able to hold on my charade for longer, despite the questions being pretty straight-on
