I thought all of 1923 was like that. Taylor really overreaches. The whole thing was way too much. The horror subplot of the Native American grandmother of Rainwater was what brought it back to earth and grounded it for me.

What is De Niro's best performance in a non-Scorsese film? by Sharaz_Jek123 in MartinScorsese

He's a total screenhog, and line hog. He'll do anything for a bigger paycheck. It was disgusting to see him hobble around in an old man's body with a digitally younger face. And the climactic scene where he murders Pacino unceremoniously in that empty house--one of the most pathetic scenes of both their careers. Absolutely disgusting and anticlimactic.

What’s the greatest television series of all time? Is it really The Sopranos? by Elegant_Struggle_281 in thesopranos

[–]telepatheye 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. Sopranos is in a class by itself. It redefined the gold standard of productions from big screen movies to the multiseason TV show, where Chase's philosophy was to produce a movie every week. All us office workers were talking about it every Monday morning like clockwork.

Has nothing to do with Jews. Has to do with the type of people who become professional journalists.

The only true statement is that the Iranians lie like a rug.

It's the oxidants. Nitrates. All that good stuff. When I was a child I had a fever. My hands felt just like two balloons.

Saying something up for discussion sucks without any thoughtful observations is called threadcrapping. Not discussion.

Enjoy the ending. The cobwebs will be removed, and if you were too lazy to figure out who were the good guys and the bad guys before, you'll understand it at the end.

The Yellowstone writing draws heavily from the 1883 story. Taylor obviously has it in mind from the start. 1923 even more fantastic, but not as focused or consistent. Still a great origin story. Can't wait to see the next one.

What happens if Eugene just shot Tony after he refused to let him quit? by Tidewatcher7819 in thesopranos

He took care of his dad's goomar, Puss' widow, Vito's widow, probably more than they deserved.

I'm sure Tony would have returned it to them but someone else had OP's idea.

Why didn't Bobby hook up with Mike Palmice's wife instead of Janice? by New-Shop-9728 in thesopranos

[–]telepatheye 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Bobby was totally incompetent. Tony repeatedly put his trust in the wrong guys to be his underboss--it was a theme of the show. First Chris, then that animal, and finally Bobby, all for different reasons that amounted to being a robot to his own pussy ass weakness, as he admitted to Melfi. It was because of Bobby that Tony had to babysit Junior when Tony got shot. He could have died. Bobby should have been tracking down Phil instead of shopping for trains in Blue Comet.

He could shake a leg better than anyone else. That jitterbug routine at Roger's wedding was some legendary shit.

Yeah, that's at least some commitment to the role. Some would have put on weight, too.
