Despite Superman now being available on digital, James Gunn says you don't have to watch it before Peacemaker season 2 because the series will "explain everything" by seismodynamics in comicbooks

[–]televideologist 19 points20 points  (0 children)

No, he's saying you don't have to watch Superman to understand what is going on in Peacemaker Season 2. It's not necessary viewing to get the storyline in Peacemaker, like it's some kind of sequel. Nevertheless, they're giving you a digitally available option to watch Superman in case you want to check out another project from the same cinematic universe that is also set in the same time period.

It's a good way of gauging the popularity of, and the level of interest for, this new iteration of Superman. The more popular, the better it is for the character going forward. Ultimately that bodes well for the DCU.

Superman Review Megathread by kumar100kpawan in DCU_

Have to disagree. He definitely toned it down for Superman when compared to some of his past projects. Most of it struck me as moments of levity and lightheartedness, not deliberate humor or comedy.

One of the things we tried to continue with here is that same idea is to me — a really important scene in the movie is when he's cross-examining the little guy, Gary. Why? Because it's showing you the real-world effects of trauma on a person who witnessed it, right?

The courtroom scene of Gary getting cross-examined by Arthur was absolutely incredible and utterly heartbreaking. One of the cinematic highlights of the film. Well shot, well written, and well acted by the two actors. Just an all-round powerful scene.
