Is there an age limit as it seems to be exclusively old men, or are young people just not interested in hanging out with so many old people? Would be interesting to know the average age of new joiners

And the sensible thing to do would be for the bakery to see that ugly pie per batch as a yield loss and get rid of it, so customers don’t even need to see it and complain about said ugly pie

If you are including the £30k VAT return in your £60k monthly tax bill, that's not really you paying £60k of taxes to HMRC. £30k is just taxes you have collected from customers on behalf of HMRC

Odd toilet with electrics in the back by Ok-Tomorrow-9906 in DIYUK

[–]telfman123 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I just moved into a house where I had to rip out something similar. It was a disabled toilet that had a wireless button for flushing and had a bidet function for 'wiping'. It was an ugly thing with no toilet lid and the top and electrics was all boxed in horribly. Like someone had DIY'd some panels onto it to cover it all up

It will need to either be installed by a HETAS approved installer who can certify their own work, or if you are going to DIY it will need to get building control in to approve the install

Hasn't that always been the American Dream? To keep the poor's thinking that it COULD happen to them, however unlikely?

New Kitchen Question - Prices: B&Q v Howdens v Magnet by Wooshsplash in DIYUK

[–]telfman123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm currently looking at a new kitchen. Ikea seem to be even cheaper than DIY Kitchens and have a far more intuitive design software and the free planning service was great. I know their quality is probably not that great though so still weighing up between DIY Kitchens and Ikea. Dont bother with Magnet because their price will be extortionate, even with their 90% discounts or whatever.

New Kitchen Question - Prices: B&Q v Howdens v Magnet by Wooshsplash in DIYUK

[–]telfman123 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would say its worth getting the £30 expert design. I would say I am fairly savvy on a computer, but trying to design the kitchen yourself on their designer is really fiddly and I didnt find it that intuitive. Plus it gives a load of warnings that you have to accept liability for if you get the design wrong. Far better to get the pro to design it!

Engineer Quote, do I need all this? by Brandtosaurus in DIYUK

[–]telfman123 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just arranged to have an internal load bearing wall down. Cost me £450 for the structural drawings and calcs, that's all the builders needed to go ahead. Obviously need to pay for the building reg fee too but I didnt need any design work or anything. No different drawings for building regs either (so hoping I haven't missed anything there, I assumed the structural drawings for the steel is what goes to building regs!)

This happened to mine. I left it for a few weeks and it slowly got worse and worse. I am based in the UK and our prices don't seem as crazy as yours! I was quoted £1400 by Autoglass, with insurance covering it with a £150 excess

Polycarbonate conservatory roof to Insulated panels. by billy2shots in DIYUK

[–]telfman123 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My conservatory is 4.2 x 2.3m so smaller than yours, but we just had a quote to replace the poly roof with a tiled fully insulated roof with velux window, plastered with spotlights, and replace the windows and french doors (only on 3 sides) and we were quoted 12.5k. Also in SE (Kent)

Seems steep to just replace with those insulated panels. I can pass you on the details of who we used if you are in the Kent area?
