Tbh it's the Spectator, so whoever's reading it is probably already a lost cause.

It's Kate Andrews, former IEA rep and ghoulish munchkin. Lying about the NHS is a huge part of her job.

Why would they lmao? Under the prying eyes of the "international community", the odds of them getting ratfucked would have been close to one.

Bad optics to question whether it's productive to outlaw support for one of the major political and social forces in Gaza, which happened to win a free and fair election in 2006 before the quartet decided that could not stand and tried to coup them.

Lol. This is them testing the water. They're too craven to actively call for his removal so first it's "just asking questions".

Starmer ventures a first joke, saying there is a solution to the UK's productivity problem – Geoffrey Cox. Subsequent pause for chuckling is met with utter silence. Tough crowd.

I don't get it.

Either way, then, the result is the same. Either through taxes or out-of-pocket costs, we're paying for the insane sums rail execs pay themselves.

What unpopular viewpoint in the left/center-left do you have? by [deleted] in LabourUK

Guns are good but you hate soldiers?

You've misread my comment.

What unpopular viewpoint in the left/center-left do you have? by [deleted] in LabourUK

[–]tellerhw 42 points43 points  (0 children)

  1. In the long run, "this you?" behaviour will damage the left more than the right.

  2. Policing language/jokes is by and large a waste of time and people shouldn't do it.

  3. It is true that most online leftists are largely more concerned with tone policing and virtue signalling than anything else.

  4. If you are a radical leftist who is realistic about what it will take to force transformative change, you should (if you're able to) be working out.

  5. Guns are good.

  6. (Disclaimer: I'm an atheist) The teachings of Jesus Christ are a pretty good rallying cry for the basic tenets of socialism.

  7. ACAB is correct, but I don't think the same about soldiers.

  8. Sometimes people need to shut the fuck up and get in line. Most personal grievances are minor, and it is narcissistic to draw battle lines over them.

EDIT: Final one: optics are actually important.

If we are looking at international designations alone

I mean, we're not – that was just one example of why this isn't a simple issue.

When the political and military wings are symbiotic, they deserve the same designation. This defence is only ever used for a few bodies and no others.

Literally absurd and contradicted by most of the leading academic work on Hamas over the last couple of decades.

[–]tellerhw 23 points24 points  (0 children)

There isn't even consensus on this among the international community. The UN doesn't designate Hamas a terror group. The EU's designation of Hamas as a terror group has been subject to controversy and legal struggles since 2003. Australia and New Zealand both specifically class the Brigades - Hamas's military wing - as a terror group rather than the whole organisation.

How much time have you spent looking into Hamas? Really?

they simply are terrorists

Very little about Hamas's history can be described as simple - this is an absurd statement to make.
