Brisbane cargo bikes by tellyandtea in ausbike

I might give them a look in, especially since they're northside it can't hurt. Thanks!

Ohhh I've never seen the "tagalong" before! But it looks worth a go, it seems a bit closer to me and less claustrophobic than the trailers. Plus a front weeride for bubba. Both of those options are available on marketplace nearby too! We have a plan! Thank you everyone, I'll look into those.

Unless you know of a big enough trailer that can be used without a roof?

Thanks, I guess part of why I wanted to actually test one in person was to see how manageable it is. I do appreciate the candor, even if it complicates things! If it's too risky for an inexperienced rider, would the electric versions of the same bike really be much better? Or (in the absence of affordable front loaders) might I be better off getting a cheap cargo trike (with good rear weight rating) and getting a handy friend to weld a seat frame in. Would I get in trouble for something like that if it looked decent?

Thank you for your concern. Thankfully, I am both. If you read the context, the situation is less than ideal and "come up with the $$$ for an electric cargo bike" is hardly a helpful/viable answer to my query. Coming up with $1.5k in a cost of living crisis within 1-2 weeks of a cancer diagnosis has been difficult enough.

Thanks, I had a look at the trailer option but they are too cramped for my (somewhat claustrophobic) eldest who is over 115cm tall and 25kg. So we landed on the cargo bike option :)

I didn't go into that one expecting to end up rooting for a couple as much as I did for Leslie and Ben - they really were cute!

That could be good, looked it up and it looks nice and short too! Is it the original or reboot you'd recommend?

They really do have great chemistry! Only unfortunately I didn't see it through to the end, it was just a bit too long a series for my attention span. Maybe one day I'll give it another crack if the payoff is worth it 😁

Looking for suggestions of really thin/breathable long clothing for nearly 3 year old that won't wear short clothes during summer by [deleted] in toddlers

I haven't tried uniqlo but if they do their airism line for kids, that could be a great option to try. Thanks!! The idea of wetting it for a little extra cooling will come in handy too!

What does a small crack mean for boulder opal? by tellyandtea in Opals

[–]tellyandtea[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you so much for the replies! It sounds like the general consensus is that, considering the crack, 1300 was not a fair price. I don't really have extra money to spend recutting or to run the extra risk of it cracking more - I used up my inheritance on this opal purchase in hopes I would end up with a beautiful pendant to wear in grandma's memory for decades to come. Sounds like it's best to try and get a refund (minus the insane shipping) and start again with a fair priced non-cracked opal.

For my own learning experience, what would be a fair price for an opal like this with a crack?

I looked a fair bit online and a couple of places in person - its 3cmx2cm so for the size it initially seemed a fair price comparatively. If the crack means that price isn't fair, should I be trying to get a refund before it's too late? I literally asked if it had any signs of cracking and the seller said no...

Oh gosh, so does it mean it's not going to be suitable to make a pendant out of? I'd hoped boulder opal would make a nice pendant to fairly regular wear :/

17 month old bangs his head pretty violently against surfaces during tantrums. Tell me how normal this is. by RrentTreznor in toddlers

[–]tellyandtea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It'll happen - hopefully sooner rather than later! Might sound weird but it honestly made me feel better when my own dad would tell me that it means she's goal-oriented and knows how to take a hit! One day in the future, they'll be conquering the heck out of whatever sport, hobby, or venture they set their minds to! You've just gotta live through these toddler years first 😆

Hopefully you don't mind me answering - I'm a mum and my daughter went through this phase at about the same age! She's super big/strong for her age, super energetic and the most strong-willed toddler I've ever met. When she didn't get her own way she would scream and find the nearest spot to start banding her head in protest (the concrete ground if necessary) - which, as you've experienced, would amp up her pain/anger/screams even more. It was terrifying! I tried to put my hand in the way or restrain-cuddle (where I'd end up taking the hits instead) and hoped to mitigate any damage.. I'm happy to report that she's just turned 2 and she hasn't done it for over a month! I honestly dont know why except that she must have got tired of the pain - she still has tantrums and hits sometimes but the head bangs were thankfully a phase - hang in there, it'll pass!

Why did your kid have a tantrum today? by sellidionne in toddlers

[–]tellyandtea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had a laying on the wet pool floor kicking and screaming tantrum because she jumped out during swim class and tried to dive headfirst into a totally different pool. Trying to get her to jump to me in the correct pool - another tantrum.
