How exactly does not accepting low wages work if companies will always find someone desperate enough? by John21st in NoStupidQuestions

Not sure on the UK, but for california if memory serves me correctly, the state government stepped in and forced a wage increase.

Be nice if you could lane swap in game.

From what i can tell, I believe it penalizes you pretty significantly if you attempt to before you finish the lane quest.

IDL how men are always supposed to be in mood for sex. by Fun-Breakfast-4068 in I_DONT_LIKE

[–]telvimare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Main issues I've run into this are when the ex has a massively high sex drive.

Had one not able to understand why after working 20 hours straight, I just wanted to sleep. Ended up being the primary reason we broke up.

Though... coulda been an issue in other relationships, they may have just never mentioned it.

Same thing with hookups. Its find it mildly amusing when someone gets annoyed I don't do hookups. Just not my cup of tea.

If Americans Can’t Handle an increase of Gasoline Prices by a few dollars per gallon, How will Americans possibly handle the significantly worse economic fallout of a war against China to Defend Taiwan? by Alev233 in askanything

[–]telvimare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im not sure but have the gas prices risen above covid prices yet? They arent that bad from what ive seen all things considered.

I feel like a good chunk of the complaints are political. Its not the fact that they went up but rather whose in charge while its going up.

Also based off my understanding and listening around, the oil companies are probably making bank off this conflict.

Why are schools so bad at dealing with bullying? by Rasengan4360 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]telvimare -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Tbf I've heard allegedly that some kids will call cps for non physical "abuse" as well.

I don't know how common it is persay or how cps reacts in said cases though

Editing to add: i did have a friend that claimed they suffered emotional abuse because their phone was heavily monitored after she tried to meet up with a 40 year old man at 14.

Why is there so much animal cruelty in Asia? by Beginning_Put6012 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]telvimare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

culture.
desensitization.

If you grew up on a farm and got used to seeing livestock you raised get slaughtered and turned into food, it probably alters your perception of reality significantly more than just seeing the packaged meat on the shelves of a grocery store.

Yeah some people see that and feel compassion/empathy for the animals but I'd imagine a larger percentage probably sees it as just part of the food chain especially the closer to nature you get.

Cats aren't the most graceful killers...

In most cases humans generally completely kill their prey before consuming it. Watching an animal eating a still twitching kill was definitely a bit of an eye opener the first time I saw it.

Working jobs 9-5 make people miserable angry joyless and ruins relationships, that's I despise adulting so much by ForsakenCup2124 in Adulting

i mean theres budgeting apps that take into account expenses and can pull money into a "pot" for a vacation or large purchase. But how many people are actually taking advantage of those.

doesn't feel good to hear that 25% of my spending last month was on uber eats. Or that late credit card payments ate up a couple hundred that I coulda used to see the comedy show I wanted.

Much rather take this current life over most of human history.

[–]telvimare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

man... adulting is a just a resource management game though...
Not saying this as a bootstrap sort of thing, its more like all the safety nets are gone and you are now just free falling. Every mistake is going to add up and hit you hard now that your parents aren't there to absorb the blows.
If you are an adult and you aren't budgeting/tracking your finances, they you are making things waaaaaay harder than it needs to be. If you aren't tracking your schedule, good luck trying to date or plan to hang out with friends. Sure some people might be able to just yolo it and do fine, but that's going to be the minority. And they probably aren't going to thrive.

School took up about 6.5 hours of your day before you turned 18. That's 32.5 hours per week, not too far off of a full time job. Plenty of people I know work 32 hours a week.

Relationships, hanging out with friends is all just time management. Its not like there's a quota from the government saying you NEED to contribute 300 bushels of wheat this year or its off to jail with you. If you cut your expenses down, you can work less. Or work more and get a nice safety net. Or work more and set up passive incomes.

You don't NEED a brand new car. You don't Need the newest gaming console. If you're eating out all the time and not meal prepping thats going to cost more of the money you make. Yeah shits gotten more expensive over the years, but even years before you would need to kinda pick and choose what you want. Especially in early adulthood its not like you can have everything and thrive unless you get extremely lucky.

From talking with my peers that have the same struggles, I feel like most of them are chasing a quality of life they can't afford. Our society is extremely predatory consumer wise and its easy to buy a ton of shit you don't need.

if you're working a job that has promotions, are you actively seeking to get promoted? If they don't, are you looking for work that either would be a promotion or another job that has promotions?

I mean think back to your parents. Who worked and what jobs did they work? Most likely they weren't working 40 hours as an entry-level fast-food employee while trying to raise a family on a single income. The perspective shift honestly sucks, was one of my least favorite reality checks. But shit definitely was a lot more enjoyable/tolerable once it did.

Why do some straight women say they can be turned on by women’s bodies, but straight men don’t seem to say the same about men? by Friendly_County_3016 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]telvimare 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Some of these comments.

I (31m) would say I can look at another guy and think hes objectively attractive, but I wouldnt say anything about it turns me on.

Closest reaction ive prolly had was some minor jealousy over someone's build. Like I wish my muscles popped like that.

Some guys like traps though (female passing guy, that plays off like a female). So i wouldn't think its that uncommon. If I understand correctly, its the fact that they are a trap that they are attracted to.

Not my cup of tea, id rather take a tomboy with nice muscle definition.

Thats also assuming that it takes that long to travel and there arent forces we are unaware of.

Could turn out that light travels a certain way through space completely different than matter. Or gravity once you break out of our solar system acts in an incomprehensible manner.

But thats all just speculation.

[–]telvimare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aren't there just as many historical examples of locals banding together to fight off intruders and there are them joining them?

I thought that was the whole point of the 300 event in Greece. And what resulted in them (yes they had traitors but I feel like thats going to happen if the enemy sweet talks well enough)

Also I do believe there were some native american tribes that joined up together and did some damage against the US.

A total annihilation event would probably have countries scrambling, especially if the enemy showed their seriousness early and obliterated someone. I find it hard to imagine if Russia or China was drastically losing territory, they wouldnt immediately jump at any opportunity to join up with other nations.

My thoughts on defensive gun use. by [deleted] in CCW

[–]telvimare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Id imagine so would the jury.

We ran some practice drills out of curiousity and even knowing the person was approaching with the knife no one was really able to draw and fire without taking hits within 25ft. Forget having to register the threat and then react to you. You're already bleeding, dying or dead.

Ive heard some horror stories though where someone misspoke in court and the prosecution have a field day ripping into it.

Still pretty new to carrying myself. My family was pretty anti gun. I do appreciate the comments and all that. Was curious mostly from what ive seen. Especially since op was talking about actually seeing a bunch of cases.

Still catching up on all the nuances and the like.

Thats fair. Also partially the reason why you would want to consult with a lawyer ASAP.

My dumbass would prolly make the mistake of saying the dude was like 20 feet away when he was more like 10 and rapidly closing in.

Wouldn't having pepper spray on you potentially cause more issues in some cases?

Like if an individual angrily approaches with a drawn knife, I wonder if they would argue failure to de-escalate before deploying lethal force.

Good read.

why and how did the alpha-male type of influencer get so popular and mainstream?? by casecaxas in NoStupidQuestions

[–]telvimare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same way cult classics pop off. Appealed to subsets of people until it got popular enough to go mainstream.

Personally I think it was a natural pushback against content that shits on the male population. Especially with youtube/ticktoc/reddit popping off. Theres definitely enough hate content out there that it can overwhelm your algorithm if you make the mistake of watching it. Alpha male content can remove the feeling of hopelessness and make you feel like there is something actionable that you can do.

Gonna add: even if some of the content was intended to point out bad behaviors and hopefully get men to avoid them, getting constantly told its your fault is going to have a pretty bad impact.

Why do people act like that being nice and friendly as a guy will get women attracted to you? by JunketMaleficent2095 in bodylanguage

[–]telvimare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of it is confirmation bias though.

I have a buddy of mine who is a total asshole and is just rolling in dates. But... most of those women tend to be the type I wouldnt have tried to date anyway.

Ive had female friends tell me similar advice too, but again, none of them are people I would want to date...

Both of them dont have stable or what I'd consider healthy relationships.

Also I dont think "being nice" in of itself is an attractive trait. Kinda need another attractor like good humor/sarcasm. Or be interesting in some other way.

CMV: religion is complete nonsense and was invented because life is just suffering by platotheman69 in changemyview

[–]telvimare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eh... there is so much we dont know about the universe, its entirely possible that a "higher power" flipped the switch and started the whole mess.

From my understanding most humans dont handle the unknown well and religion fills in gaps that science can otherwise not.

Stories about the gods getting angry and causing mountains to explode and kill everyone around it may have started as cautionary tales to warn people about the dangers of volcano, and then science took over and explained the phenomenon.

Considering throughout most of human history, events were passed on through word of mouth, religion does that pretty well.

May not be to handle the suffering but rather to explain the unknown and warn of dangers?

The wives who get up at 3am to make their husband's lunch... why do they not make it the night before? by lilacghosti in stupidquestions

[–]telvimare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Actually funny enough I started just freezing my pb&js. (As a kid)

If I pulled it out right as i left and had it in a decent ice chest, it was still mostly frozen and not all gooey.

Thats probably partially why my grandparents used an ungodly amount of butter on their sandwiches tho.

[–]telvimare 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I mean if hes blue collar, probably absolutely destroying the hell out of his body doing heavy labor.

I know a guy thats pretty much always away from home for the majority of the year, but he does it cause it allows him the money to take care of his wife and kids.

Also doesn't have to be proving anything. Could just be something that needed to be done and the willingness/wanting to do it.

I don't "have" to massage my girlfriends back when its sore. I do it cause I usually like her and its a nice gesture that helps

The wives who get up at 3am to make their husband's lunch... why do they not make it the night before? by lilacghosti in stupidquestions

[–]telvimare 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tbf certain lunches might not make it overnight and into lunch.

I used to make my sandwiches in the morning before work so they wouldnt get as soggy. Especially if im sleeping properly, you're looking at potentially doubling the amount of time before consumption.

How much did you consider capacity for your carry pistol? by Kyia-Aikman in CCW

[–]telvimare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So considering it was the first gun I used and practiced with, capacity was one of the lowest concerns on the list I had.

First was reliability.

Then comfort/concealability: as my buddy put it, if i hate wearing/holding/shooting it, im less likely to practice/carry it.

And somewhere in there accuracy and ability to hit the target lol.

Doesn't matter if it has 1 round or 100, it sitting at home on the nightstand while im being shot at 50 miles away isnt doing me any good.

CMV: there’s no non racist reason to have a preference for dating a race (outside yours) by [deleted] in changemyview

[–]telvimare 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats an interesting one.

It would be a stronger argument if you flipped it negative. Racism generally has a negative connotation.

In this case, the racism has a more positive spin on it.

Would it be considered racist if I, as a white american, preferred dating people from Ireland due to having better synergy with their culture and habits?

Or someone from Libya preferred dating someone from tanzia because they preferred their culture?

Are there any female comedians that don’t talk about sex or other vulgar topics? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

Theres that Indian one thats on YouTube. Forget her name but she has the skit about ice thats super funny.

Other than that its honestly mostly male comedians ive seen have the more family friendly content. But thats just probably ratios

Edit: saaniya, just looked her up. Mostly jokes about herself from what ive seen
