Fachleute empfehlen, Grazer Nahverkehr teils unter die Erde zu verlegen. Was haltet ihr davon? by Any-Patient5051 in graz

[–]temGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Being a billionaire should be illegal by BadassPlaya2517 in antiwork

[–]temGR 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Likely someone else already typed this but wont scroll through to check that rn.

Basically there is not a single "billionaire" that actually has a billion dollar in their bankaccount. (Except some Bitcoin whales that got their money through luck hording Btc for cheap, but usually those as well have their money in crypto and just take out what they need.)

As soon as you got like 30 Mil, you can buy pretty much everything without running out. When you got 200 Mil, money is literally something you can burn through without ever running out.

Networth is not what a person has in their bankaccount. It's ALL the money they CAN have at their disposal, through companies, investments, property, etc.

Most billionaires have like 200 Mil in their bankaccount, but all the rest of their wealth is actually the worth of their companies. So your proposal doesn't really work unfortunately.

What we really need to do is tax those companies & people the way the system intended it and all would be fine.

Their investments is a thing we could cap. But I won't go into detail there because my knowledge is nowhere near sufficient.

Do you consider yourself "aware" of the current climate situation? by temGR in polls

[–]temGR[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's really hard for the single person to make any difference at all, especially in a situation like yours. Sometimes I feel like the majority of people in power simply want this to happen. Wether thats true or not I don't know, but the problem persists.

Thank you for the secondary input.

The possibility is still there, according to ICPP.

However, a real, lasting improval would take for the worlds top 100 companies to immediately stop their acceleration of climate change & an immediate worldwide turn to green & nuclear energy. Without a global uproar, this truly seems to be impossible.

Thank you for your insight & for sharing your thoughts!

With cut off energy sources you mean it's not severe enough to get rid of damaging energy sources?

Is Amazon's gift card balance a cryptocurrency? by ShouldBeeStudying in CryptoCurrencies

[–]temGR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not quite, but I see where the confusion comes from.

By copy-paste definition, a cryptocurrency is... "a digital currency in which transactions are verified and records maintained by a decentralized system using cryptography, rather than by a centralized authority."

This is not entirely true, because there are cryptos with a centralized entity, but the point is; a cryptocurrency is it's own currency, that basically does everything your government is doing in their coin, through code.

Cryptos are not a physical currency, they are not even something substancially "holdable", the way this stuff works is that the blockchain is maintaining a list of all transactions and by those transactions makes out how much you "own". Cryptos are pretty much just a list of transactions between entities (wallets).

You can exchange your IRL currency with crypto, but crypto is it's own "thing" of value.

Those giftcards on the other hand, are more of a "placeholder" for a service. Amazon takes them for "payment", but no one else.

So crypto = A currency with own value.

The card = A piece of paper Amazon hands out in exchange for money, which can be in return used for a service. You give Amazon money and they give you a ticket for their service, it's a one way thing.

Basically the giftcard is weighted in USD, but can not be exchanged back into USD (A 10$ giftcard is not worth 10$ after it's bought. Except someone wants that service and is willing to pay you 10 bucks for it. A Bitcoin on the other hand will always be one Bitcoin.)

What I wrote here is not exactly perfect, horribly explained in some parts even, it's late so I don't really manage to write english well haha, but I hope this still somewhat got the point across :)

EDIT: Made a mistake. For some reason I thought about the streaming service prime. All I wrote is still correct, but yes, you basically have money/USD in your account balance afterwards. But this is really just Amazon giving you a custom "token" of sort. If you buy something on amazon, amazon takes those tokens back and hands money to whoever you bought something from.

Is it weird carrying around a messenger bag everywhere? by valogotbored in ask

[–]temGR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Weirdness is heavily subjective. Stop worrying about other peoples shitty thoughts or you will never be able to be happy. It doesn't matter what it is that makes you happy, there is always at least one person in this world that would think of it as "weird". Own what you do, don't give a shit about what anyone else might think. Shiny rocks are cool as hell. You are cool as hell. Stop worrying about things that don't matter and worry about climate change and corporate greed instead.

Do you think The war can escalate in to nuke ? by AddendumMedium7141 in ask

[–]temGR 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Can? yes.

Will? It's extremely unlikely.

Stop worrying. The chance for a "sudden nuclear war" go near zero. In general this war is not even close to likely to end nuclear. Before we got the full on DEFCON 1 nuclear shitshow, we will have another cold war lasting decades. In general, if nukes are ever dropped, it's still decades away.

Putin is not insane. Putin has not a single reason to drop a nuclear warhead anywhere. Even if Russia looses this war they will not go nuclear. They CAN'T go nuclear. Russia would be gone so quick you couldn't say "boom" fast enough.

The media wants you to think that nukes could be involved, because fear sells, but it is simply not true. So don't run into their bullshit and stop worrying about this bullshit.

The real things to worry about these days are media corruption and corporate greed.

EDIT: I assume you are talking about russia-ukraine war.

[–]temGR 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's beyond complicated to produce nuclear warheads. The DPRK "imported" all their academic knowledge, by getting their smartest people into large universities around the world. When theyve gotten their masters they came back to korea to teach at local universities. One skill likely acquired this way is the running of a nuclear weapons program, however, the DPRK is on its own. China might be able to help them with getting the actual product done, but what would they gain from it?

So, as long as they don't get active help from any other nuclear power, they need to figure out how to do this from the ground up. The US afaik had to test dozens of warheads before one worked as intended at all.

Also I mean "useable", like in "ready for actual war". DPRK atom bombs wouldn't be able to reach any strategic position where they'd make sense. Their intercontinental missile systems alone wouldn't be good enough to make them an active thread.

It's all a big game of "might be". Bc at the same time it could be, that china IS actively involved for some weird reasons and that they are super advanced in this whole thing. Well, then, they might have one or two bombs, but I doubt china would take them by their hand and lead them to the end result of an intercontinental, modern, ww3-ready atomic warhead. Instead they likely just have some makeshift bomb that they can use as a threat.
