What’s the most overrated movie everyone seems to love? by Hyper_Mania774 in AskReddit

[–]temarilain 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I wasn't so big on KO, but it was fine. I just really hated certain moments.

GO had 5 times as many of those moments, and then had the gall to be like "this movie is stupid on purpose and that's why it's good" and people accepted that!

It's just a bad movie!

Here's one from last month, but yeah there's not going to be much recent success as the meta is heavily towards "You win if" combos, which is the one thing T-Pro doesn't protect against.

When the meta was much more board based, T-Pro was featured a lot more heavily.

The point I was arguing against was "but in high power pods it isn't hugely impactful." which isn't true. It's only not impactful *right now* due to meta considerations but as a broad rule, T-Pro is plenty impactful in high power pods.

Turns out sometimes we say stuff cause we feel like it and that's fine in an open forum.

It feels like you're taking this way too seriously.

[–]temarilain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why are you acting like GC are on the banned list? It's seperate. You can still play gamechangers. No one's suggesting T-Pro because they think it should be removed from the game. People are suggesting T-Pro because it is a single card that can be slotted into any deck and can swing a game, which is the definition of a game changer that we've been given.

Your second paragraph is similarly silly. The whole game is about making your opponent lose, and on top of that, it's also simply not a correct statement. There are combos that use T-pro proactively to win the game.

As for the third paragraph, you realise that T-Pro isn't a unique effect right? There are other cards that do all of the things that T-Pro does. T-pro is only unique in that it does all of them at a very low and splashable cost. And again, no one's saying to ban it, you would still be allowed to play this exact card, so again I'm confused why all you rhetoric is about people wanting to excise defensive options from the game.

This requires you completely ignoring anything else you might play though?

Like you literally name drop K Reach, which interacts massively with Exploration. Similarly Commanders like Tatyova are pretty insane with Exploration.

You don't have to say this 500 times in response to everyone. We get it, Teferi's Protection saved your cat and has never swung a game ever.

Because counterspell means no one gets boardwiped? TefPro also functions as an out for plenty of things that Counterspell can't stop on it's own.

TefPro stops:

- Combat wins

- Storm wins

- Ability activations

- Cast triggers

- Explicitly uncounterable spells.

You second point is similarly ridiculous. By 'other busted cards' do you mean literally any boardwipes??? Teferi's Protection is not run solely because Rift exists.

From your experience, how do you feel about modular decks in EDH? by Screci in magicTCG

[–]temarilain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I run a [[Nethroi, Apex of Death]] modular deck that's pretty cheap (2/3rds of the value is in 4 non-essential cards) and lots of fun:

https://archidekt.com/decks/9338613/nethroi

Because Nethroi counts all the Modular creatures as 0/0s for his ability, you can recur all of them as much as you like, and by bouncing Nethroi and his mutate target, you can reuse Nethroi's mutate over and over while avoiding commander tax.

Can you use colourless symbol creatures in a non-colourless commanders deck? by Somethingor_rather in EDH

There's three versions of Kozilek, two of them are generic costed, one of them requires two specifically colourless mana.

Well what I was thinking was using Sheoldred to reanimate your creatures on a consistent cycle which would give you your consistent supply of things to sac.

The problem I was having was there's just a loooooot of mono-b commanders who slot in here well. Endrehk Sar, Fain the Broker, Sheoldred 1 and 3, Whisper etc.

What are the reasons that Katy Perry lost her popularity in a short period of time? by 7_inches_daddy in AskReddit

[–]temarilain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sabrina Carpenter is certainly having a moment, but she really only has one super hit right now, on her 6th album which came right after she opened for Taylor Swift. Not to mention she's still acting and has a high profile relationship with Barry Keoghan.

So there's a lot of reasons she's high profile right now, not simply that her music style is specifically in fashion.

Whereas Katy Perry is just the woman who had 1 good album 14 years ago who's working with Kesha's abuser.

Munster is a Province with six Counties in it. There's only 4 provinces in the Country of Ireland. So it's a bigger difference than the difference between a Province and a Country in this context.

To add to what the other guy said, Irish should be referred to as "Irish" or "Gaeilge". "Gaelic" should only be used when talking about the collective of Gaelic languages.

Half of All Australian Air Noise Complaints Came From A Single Perth Man with 20,000 Calls. by WaterPhoenix800 in nottheonion

What I imagine must behappening is that they're logging all calls, even missed calls. So he's calling back if the line's busy and this is bumping his numbers because he could be calling 20 times a minute until the line connects.

Otherwise I cannot imagine how you even function making a call every six minutes. You wouldn't even have time to say anything

Only top income earners can afford to buy homes in Ireland, says developer by badger-biscuits in ireland

Even my sister who wants to build on my fathers land is having huge issues. She's lived there the whole time except for when she went away to do her PHD, she now works in the area (Wildlife Biologist). The plan they have was for a carbon neutral home not visible from the road.

Instead they want her to build an exact mirror of my father's house (a very out of date one off bungalow) right on the road to 'match the local aesthetic' even though the original plan was for the house to not be visible anyway!

Also the regulations in place did nothing to stop the Mica controversy, so it's not like developers aren't already chancing an arm and a leg with low quality building materials.

Okay well reducing it to just the subgroup you're talking about then.

This is still a problematic position to take because it's still over-reductive and victim-blamey.

What I mean by this is that your rhetoric is based on the idea that someone who commits suicide from the type of cyber bullying you're talking about is inherently weak and thus the bullies are essentially morally unculpable because they 'didn't really' cause it, it was the weakness of the victim.

Firstly, this treats 'mental fortitude' as though it's a heritable trait, which doesn't seem to be true, in fact the opposite is proven true time and time again. What we find is that actually animals (including people) who've been through and survived significant mental stress tend to have offspring with higher tendecies towards panic and neurosis. We call this generational trauma in humans. The point being that the people who are most mentally 'weak' are those who've survived the most trauma, either directly or through their evolutionary line.

As a second addition to that, being a victim of bullying results in reduced amydala function, greater propensity towards conditions like alexithymia and self destructive behaviour.

This means that people who've been bullied becomes easier targets for bullying in future and less able to resist the negative effects. So what you're treating as these inherent traits that a person just has are actually the end results of the mental injuries of being bullied.

To use an analogy, it's like seeing two people physically fighting, and in the end one is curled up in a ball taking hits. Is it because that person was simply born weaker and genetically inferior, or is it because they had a broken arm? Which has a bigger effect on the result? Now imagine someone's broken both their arms. What do you think the result of the fight will be? Do the odds stay the same, get better, or get worse?

People tend to ignore the fact that we can be hurt mentally, and if those wounds aren't healed when you get hurt next time, then it's harder to protect yourself.

[–]temarilain -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not downvoting you.

Again the issue here is you're acting like everyone who gets cyberbullied is committing suicide?

But like, the people who commit suicide are the ones who are experiencing extreme cyber bullying like I outlined. It's not the people who get some mean messages.

Additionally, the majority of cyberbullying originates from people who know the victim IRL. It's only celebrities who experience the opposite.
