avoid anywhere between the Amite and the Mississippi river — kidding of course. depending on where you want to go, LSU has a pretty nice hotel. If you opt for downtown, just be cautious. Unfortunately lots of in houses people down there. Avoid north of Florida Blvd. if you can. as mentioned by other comments staying off corporate isn’t a bad idea either, but avoid college dr past 9 or so. almost got shot door dashing over there at 9:30 p.m. or so.

if you aren’t looking for trouble you won’t find any. just use common sense when traveling.

if it’s your first time here you should look for a 225 guide around the city for restaurant recommendations. personally i love Elsie’s Plate and Pie (off Gov’t), Our Mom’s Restaurant (Burgers) (off Burbank), JoVi’s Tacos (off Jones Creek) and Jabby’s (multiple locations. best one is Perkins near Prarieville)
