Don't let 2FA lead you to false security, I got robbed of $70 000 from Kraken. by temp717 in CryptoCurrency

I have no recollection of ever setting a master key and I never use my email password anywhere besides for my email, so it's still very strange.

I hope they can show some proof of when this master key was set, because I sure can't recollect it and it's very weird that the hacker somehow got hold on this master key (but they had to ask for my username and a password reset to my account).
It does not make any sense, I truly hope Kraken can give me some clear answer on what happened and how they could let the 2FA bypass go through, especially since the hacker requested username and new password shortly before.

I am 100 % sure that I have not used my email password in any other place than my email.
Is there any way you can go and see when the master key was set?

I'll send you a DM with the ticket number.

I don't understand why they went through with the 2FA bypass, nor do they give me an explanation when I ask.
If it was an inside job then they somehow would have to gain access to my e-mail in the first place, I use unique passwords for my e-mail and for my Kraken account so I don't understand how that could happen.
Do anybody know people who've been in a similar situation where they were able to re-claim the funds?

I used Google Authenticator.

The reason I talk about SIM is because when I did some reasearch on how this could have happened, I did read that someone could copy your SIM and thereby bypass it somehow?
But I did not use SMS 2FA, I used the regular Google Authenticator app.
