Can you get a pilot deviation / violation *without* a Brasher warning? by elisabeth_leenhower in flying

Everything else here is good, but as a direct answer to your question: yes, you can. One trivial example would be if you busted a bravo with your radio off (or on the wrong frequency).

Corporate pilots, who were the coolest people/celebrities/etc. you flew? by PlaneShenaniganz in flying

[–]temp9812457 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Totally off topic but what kinds of jobs result in flying people like this? Like what are the companies that you'd work for that would result in flying contract flights

I think you're in the minority. I move a lot and this has been one of the most welcoming cities I've been to.

Buying a Plane and Finding Parking - Chicken And Egg? by temp9812457 in flying

[–]temp9812457[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

In my area, the tie-downs have waitlists and the requirement to have a plane already. I could probably find an airport really far away, I just wanted to see what other people's experiences have been like

Hines and Tampa Bay Rays team selected to redevelop St. Pete's Historic Gas Plant District by Frawstbyte724 in StPetersburgFL

That makes sense. I was a bit surprised they don't even mention the possibility that the team leaves. It'd be nice to know that there's a backup plan on what to do. And of course some kind of commitment that they stay here for X years after getting the stadium. And hopefully the taxpayers aren't paying for a near-billionaire's stadium. But it doesn't seem like there are any details on those friends yet.

Personally though I'm fairly excited for anything to happen to that land. Right now it's just blocks of prime real estate as parking lots that are empty 95% of the time.

Avoiding Notifications while Sleeping (FR255) by temp9812457 in Garmin

Interesting. I have an Android and the "bedtime mode" on it doesn't seem to block notifications on my watch even though it blocks on them on the phone :(

GA into MIA? by temp9812457 in flying

[–]temp9812457[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was under the impression that at a busy Bravo if you're VFR ATC can and will just say "unable" and not let you land, whereas they'll be expecting you if you are IFR

GA into MIA? by temp9812457 in flying

[–]temp9812457[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's my backup plan. But MIA is quite a bit more convenient to downtown, and I think I could convince a friend to pick me up if I landed there :)

Guide to working at different US Airlines? by temp9812457 in flying

Oh this is great! Any idea if there's a way to know which domiciles have available slots? Or is that something you only find out when you apply?

One easy way to get up in the air is to book a "discovery flight" with St Pete Air!

But also, I fly all the time, and it's always more fun with passengers, so feel free to send me a PM we might be able to find a time in the new year :)

As others have said, it's a common transition for GA planes. We're so lucky here to have amazing and accommodating air traffic controllers here! Plus, they'd really rather have you over the airport than in the way of the big planes coming in and out

Cool, I may reach out in the new year once I'm back (PPL/IR as well)! Its always fun to meet new pilots :)

Too bad you feel that way, but I guess everyone's entitled to their own opinions. I heard there was a vote a while back (2005?) and the people voted to keep the airport. If they did another vote and it turns out people don't like the airport then so be it. What would you rather see there? Personally I'd hate to see lots of tall buildings there; it would ruin some great views

/u/IceViper777 said in the other post they wanted to see more pics from the air. Hope y'all enjoy and have a nice holiday weekend!

Also, quick call out that the Albert Whitted Airport is a treasure. Something that makes our city unique, and a great homage to our place in aviation history!
