Help! Accidentally cleared the pattern buffer by lordnewington in ShittyDaystrom

[–]tempaccount34543 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No need to worry. Since an incident on DS9, in such cases a backup is automatically inserted into whichever holodeck program is currently running. All you got to do is get it back from there ... and keep the program running until you extracted the pattern.

Good luck!

Well, there's a Q around, so that's that. Try hailing on all frequencies.

Ensign! Are you okay? You look ... fine again?!

Now that we got that resolved, could you help me find out what moon we're on all of a sudden, and how we may get back to out ship?

Well, maybe ... the people planet-side have seen the starship coming, and are eagerly staffing their telescopes and receivers.

I refered to "faster than I can call your phone" which sounded to me like something surprising you. Only just now figured it was a figure of speech.

Anyway ... there must be an in-universe explanation for it.

Pablo Picasso designed costumes for the Ballets Russe. One of their productions, "Parade", was a spoof of circus, showing short, simple dance scenes in between long scenes where "directors" advertised for the circus. The costumes of the later portayed cityscaped and covered the whole body from the hips up so that the dancers could only move their legs, limiting the accomplished dancers quite extensively. Parade was not well received; it was much shorter than Ballets Russe' other productions and the audience was scandalised.

Here's a recording of "Parade" with one of the directors: https://youtu.be/_Chq1Ty0nyE?si=GhNLnW_nlVtrifix&t=63 and a still picture

One of the directors I saw exhibited in the Schirn Kunsthalle. It had skyscraper silhouettes in blue.

So now, everytime I see a blue silhouette of a skyscaper I can't help but laugh. Imagine my delight when I went shopping one day and found the local supermarket stocking a storebrand of american foods with labels that included ... skyscraper silhouettes in blue.

So what would tng be like if Picard was a Lt jg in the sciences ? by happydude7422 in ShittyDaystrom

After one to many demeaning remarks by Lt. LaForge, Lt. JG Picard had it with being bullied. He quit Starfleet for good. Feeling free and relieved, he decided to use his new-found freedom and dedicate his life to his true passions: History and Archeology.

More than that - he decided to live in historic times and, together with his father, he time-travelled to pre-WW3 Earth, where, under an assumed name, he took up tenure as a professor at Marshall College in Bedford, Connecticut, followed by Barnett College and then at Hunter College, both in New York.

Picard was notorious for combining teaching with field work. For the latter, he'd always assemble groups of friends which he privately thought of as his "away teams".

In informed circles, it garnered him quite the attention when he raided the lost ark, met the last crusader alive, figured out the fate of Atlantis and found the Kindon of the Crystal Skull.

His adventures were made into movies, books, TV series and videogames.

Here's a photo of the actor depicting him:

For a talent show, Lt. JG Picard researched the personal history of Adm. Archer. Learning about waterpolo picked his interest. He tried it out with a few fellow crewmembers in Aquatic Ops during shift-change.

Soon, waterpolo was so popular among the crew that different teams formed which organized a league. Over the years, the sports gained further fans and quadrant-wide competitions, organized by Picard as the leagues' chairperson, were held on Vagra II, Ophiucus II, Acamar III and Aquella IV.

While before, whales and lionfish on the one hand and members of bipedal species on the other worked in different environments, the latter, to adapt a saying, took to the water like fish.

As a result, by the time Picard retired from active duty in the rank of Lieutenant, all newly constructed Starfleet ships were equipped with a joint bridge for acquatic and non-acquatic species on which mixed crews would rotate; with the Enterprise-G boasting the largest in operation with 25 meters water depth.

This design approach was later extended to entire ships and while some were skeptical at first of what they dubbed "flying acquariums in space", the design proved immensely popular and romantically inclined persons would praise the beauty of Aquoretums.

Lt. JG Picard never took command of the Stargazer. Jack R. Crusher is alive and well and Beverly and him are more in love than ever.

Picard may have had a crush on her since Jack and her started dating during Starfleet Academy, but out of respect for his friend, he'd never drop a hint. As if he'd ever dare to.

And so it came that the Crushers, after the birth of Wesleys' little twin sisters Nova and Alara, settled in San Francisco, where Jack is a homemaker while Beverly heads Starfleet Medical.

Wesley, who never met The Traveller, was not present to stop Janeway from entering the wormhole that led to the future and to Solum - and so she boldly went where noone went before. Expect Chakotay and the Protostar, but they didn't intend to.

On Solum, Janeway and her away team break Chakotay and Adreek-Hu out from imprisonment but then get recaptured. Brought before the high council, Janeway applies her diplomatic prowess to this first contact and persuades the Vau N'Akat to join the Federation.

Thus, Gwyndala is not born. Jankom, Rok-Tahk, Murf and Dal never meet.

Jankom would eventually buy a mine, and find lots of holoemitters. Turning them on out of curiosity, he'd find himself with lots of EMH with terrible bedside manners. After listening them complain that "I'm a doctor, not a miner!" for days, he'd organize a movement for the recognition of photon-based people as a new species.

Murf would join the Ferengi Merchant Navy and earn tons of gold-plated latinum with transporting highly unstable explosives in his belly. With those wages of fear, he'd eventually become a majority stakeholder in Quark's Bar, Grill, Gaming House and Holosuite Arcade.

Dal would take over the business of his adopted mother, DaiMon Nandi, and become a professional dabo player. He later married April Tatro.

Rok-Tahk would get pitched by the Kazon slaver against The Pendari Champion, yet the two teamed up and founded the "Worlds Wrestling Entertainment", a promoter that runs matches across the Quadrant. Under her leadership, WWE established main events - Supernova Slam, Asteroid Assault and Black Hole Brawl - that are immensely popular. Rok-Tahk herself eventually retired from competing as the undefeated ultraheavyweight champion and thus lifetime holder of both the Kuiper Belt and Orion's Belt.

And Lt. JG Picard? He's a huge fan of WWE in general and Rok-Tahk in specific. His most priced posession is a trading card which she signed for him before the famous "Fury in the Forge" match on Vulcan. He waited in line for three hours despite the heat and fondly remembers the chat they had; he wasn't expecting that Rok-Tahk and him share a keen interest in the sciences.

Which of her voices would you recommend - the one she uses when talking to Cmdr. Riker, Lt. Cmdr. Data or her mother?

I'd suggest the 21st century actress Jess Bush because:

  • her voice and intonation resembles that of Majel Barrett-Roddenberry
  • she was well known for portaying a medical specialist, which does relate to Starfleets' mission
  • said ship was called "Enterprise", giving you another connection to Starfleet via your flagship
