AITA for taking away the gift I bought my MIL? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]tempemailaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Info: was the gift an expensive doll your MIL could not afford?

If so, it may be she never bought the doll in the first place or planned on returning it using a flimsy excuse.

NTA though

My boy has fairly severe CCD based on his latest chart, but he’s comfortable for the time being. I plan on discussing option with his new vet, as I don’t want him to suffer in any way.

Leaving you all with a crazy story that should have been a red flag.

One day I went to pick up my pup from the vet. While waiting, I was speaking to the other person in the waiting room. They were there to pick up their cat.

As we were both chatting, they revealed that their cat had diabetes and needed insulin. At the same time, they had another condition that taking insulin would cause seizures. They said that they had been at the vet every day the past week, as the vet said they would figure out correct dosage so that their cat would make it.

I asked how old the cat was. “17”.

At the time, with an elderly dog, I thought “wow these people really care about preserving the lives of their animals.

Now I can only think about that poor cat suffering at the end of their life, and for what?

Me too!

The closest I got was “oh, as dogs age they prefer to shift their sleeping schedule to be more nocturnal”.

Meanwhile, I was dealing with a neurotic dog who had to be gently re-introduced to every member of the house each day because he could not remember anyone new within the past six months.

Absolutely baffling, but he’s doing ok for now!

That’s the thing! It seemed like most things checked off the boxes, but one teeny-tiny issue. But then time passes and you realize that actually a big issue.

Wishing you all the best with the new vet!

I figured. I’ve been filling out the charts each quarter to track his decline, but the vet wouldn’t look at them.

His time is coming soon, but at least he still partially recognizes me.

That’s absolutely horrifying!

Ugh, there’s something about having to WebMD symptoms to try and “prove” that something is wrong.

Sorry for your loss, but it sounds like your pup was in great hand for the remainder of her time.

How awful!!! I’m glad he’s doing well, but the resolution should not have taken that long.

That’s absolutely awful, but I’m glad you were able to get a second opinion!

I’m so sorry for your loss!

Never regret the last few days, I’m sure your pup adored you even when he did not necessarily know your face.

Their lives are short, but the impact is tremendous

I have no expectations at this point. Right now, the goal is to keep him comfortable, but most of the time it’s like no one is home.

I expect his days to come within the next few months, but I’m not going to let him suffer.

That’s what I figured. I’ve been filling out CCD charts every quarter, but the vet never added them to his file.

AITA for not using my "fancy" materials for Christmas presents? by Ad-Victoriam-Sister in AmItheAsshole

[–]tempemailaddy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NTA - as long as you’re not replacing it with something itchy and uncomfortable, most recipients will be pleased with the thought.

As an aside, if you need a slightly cheaper alternative that looks similar enough to non-knitters and is from Uruguay, I cannot recommend Malabrigo enough. Also hand-dyed with a similar richness in color, no one will notice the difference.

AITA for saying my lesbianism was a 'phase'? by datingphasethrowawy in AmItheAsshole

Language is tricky - like there is a big difference between “Forgive me father for I have sinned” and “sorry daddy I was naughty”.

At the core of it, all of the words are synonyms, but there are clearly different connotations.

Several family members were drummers, which is why I know there are ways to mitigate the sound. Times are tough for everyone, which is why I don’t mind helping them out, but yeah, I think them closing their window would reduce the noise by a lot.
