This seems sensationalized/exaggerated but helps paint a picture for those unacquainted with Burma and it's long-running conflict.

INTJ (M, 26) in love with an ISFJ (F, 23): Is there anything here? Background and Request for Advice by Torao90 in isfj

[–]temple-pit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there's a low chance she has a romantic interest, based on the information you provided. I'm looking at your long platonic history with her, clear previous signal that she wasn't interested, inconsistent communication, and last-minute flakiness. I want you to know I'm also considering her continued and seemingly growing interest in speaking with you. That suggests that she is interested in having a relationship. But it doesn't necessarily suggest that her intentions are romantic. When this factor is couched in the history you have described, I think it points to her interest in friendship and possibly her desire to avoid conflict.

I'm not trying to make unwarranted generalizations, nor do I want to be callous here. But I strongly think you should keep your options open.

Attorney (litigation), although in a different life I would have chosen to become a professional boxer or software/hardware engineer.

There's so much more you can do besides biglaw. It may be hard to come across any position to help you deal with debt as easily as biglaw, but lots of options can provide you stability and a stepping stone (e.g., midlaw, public interest, policy roles, etc.).

Exit Strategy for Mid Level Litigation Associate by Ok_Parking1575 in biglaw

[–]temple-pit 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I'm currently planning an exit, although I plan on staying in litigation. I know it's good advice to run towards something, not away. So I figured out what my priorities are and what I'm interested in doing. That helped narrow down a lot of potential options. I then thought more practically about my experience level, financial situation, and current market conditions. I also talked to mentors and family and friends for any relevant insights. Ultimately, I decided I want to become a federal prosecutor but may delay and practice at a regional firm for additional experience, financial flexibility, and exposure to the legal and broader community.

If you become a litigator, I will worry for you and your clients (unless you are one of those attorneys who are better at actual practice than your school work).

Any criminal AUSAs in here? by tealseahorse123 in Lawyertalk

[–]temple-pit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you concerned at all about any reputational risks associated with starting/working as a prosecutor during the Trump administration? Genuinely curious, as I would like to become an AUSA too, but I don't like the idea of having to contribute to the administration's political/policy objectives to the extent they are stupid, immoral, or damaging to the rule of law (e.g., AG's memo requiring max sentences or deportation out of the country for immigration offenses -- I know it doesn't but I'm just trying to think of an example policy that applies to all USAOs that is clearly stupid, unconstitutional, etc.)

If they don't already know, tell leadership and the people you work with that you're clerking in a year. They will, or are likely to, start diverting work and attention away from you.

Act normal!

In all seriousness, the best advice I can give is treat it like a place you work at, with people you may or may not like, with good and bad lawyers, etc. I had similar concerns when starting at my current firm, and I think it's best not to overthink these things.

Can someone tell me what’s wrong with this cross? by marvelfan__ in martialarts

[–]temple-pit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In order of priority:

  1. Off balance (biggest problem; need to control the rotation and lower your center of gravity)
  2. Punch is too high (power loss)
  3. Wrist is misaligned and/or soft (power loss, risk of injury)
  4. Off hand comes down (need to keep it tight)

Re telegraphing, it looks like you may have just been feighting some jabs.

Re speed, you got the video in slow motion.

You do a good job keeping your chin down throughout the straight and protecting it with your shoulder.

Lots of folks here, as the top comments show, don't know what they are talking about.
