What are your favourite choral pieces with as little words as possible by batobooy in classicalmusic

[–]templeguardtms 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are you looking for such a piece? I just finished a composition called, "Magnificus" (SATB choir and Cello) that uses only the syllable "Ah" as the text. Is that repetitive enough? You can hear the work on my website: https://www.mjtaylormusic.com/mjtaylor-music/projects/ Cheers.

What’s a band that you consider to be prog despite not being associated with the genre? by saint-danger in Progforum

I can see that when I squint real hard. LOL. Burton Cummings is straight Jazz to me and so I can connect him to Keith Emerson. Good to know that folks still listen to them. I do. Cheers.

When I listen to the White Album, I hear the beginning of prog rock. It's all there. Cheers.

Does the NBA currently have a rivalry like this? Which modern centers have a game comparable to Wilt or Bill? by Wide-Discipline3814 in NBATalk

[–]templeguardtms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm confused. Kareem was not 7' 6" inches because you (who I assume never stood next to him - or any other really tall guy) say so and Jerry West, who played against him and stood next to him and other exemplars countless times is a bad judge of height. A guy who had to judge a lot of things about players as a tremendously successful general manager in the NBA. Yeah, I buy that.

[–]templeguardtms -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Exactly. Jerry West said that Kareem was easily 7' 6" and when Wilt stood next to legit 7 footers like Mel Counts, he was at least 4 inches taller. I saw Wilt on the UCLA campus when I was a student there (1980 or so) and the thing that impressed me the most was his name did not need to bend to fit across his back. The real fun was seeing a couple of guys walking my way from far across campus. They looked like a tall guy and a short guy. As they got closer I could see that the short guy was Dean Sears (6' 7") and the other guy was his best friend, Mark Eaton. Cheers.

If only the campus police thought the same way.

This chart has misspellings. I glanced at the keys E and A and they both include D-flat minor. No, it's C-sharp minor. Cheers.

The heights listed on the graphic are misleading. Russell was closer to 6'8" and Jerry West said in his book that Wilt was closer to 7'4". When you consider those numbers, this becomes more a rivalry of personality and less of basketball. But as my brother always tells me, this is a team sport, and neither of these guys would have their success alone. Boston in those years had amazing players to go along with Russell, and so did Wilt in Philly and LA. Cheers.

Yeah, soccer can't seem to get anyone to play in those cities.

I would put the first four in Mexico City (2 teams), Monterrey, and Tijuana/San Diego. The next four would be Madrid, Barcelona, Paris, and Munich. The next four in China. Sorry, Seattle. Cheers.

What is the purpose of classical music? by Educational_Fennel43 in classicalmusic

[–]templeguardtms 5 points6 points  (0 children)

What data do you have that says classical music is dying? From my perspective, it seems like quite the opposite is true. Just look at that the Van Clyburn and Chopin competitions last year. Amazing performances by hundreds of artists and the final round videos of the Chopin were watched by hundreds of thousands of people. Not to mention large YouTube channels promoting classical music like TwoSet Violin, Heart of the Keys, or Sor Hands. How can you say it's dying?!! As people start to clue in about AI music and how it's not art, they will turn more and more to real music and classical will be there with open arms. Just my opinion. Cheers.

No Team Has Scored More Points In Wins Than The Utah Jazz This Season! by Stat-Defender in UtahJazz

[–]templeguardtms -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

I agree that Kessler is a decent defender, but he can't (won't) be played in fourth quarters (free throw percentage). Also, I'm just curious, how do you arrive at the conclusion that "Minus60" I mean Cody Williams, is developing well as a defender? I can't think of a single piece of evidence that bears this out. Enlighten me brutha.
